QF currently have a sale for flights to Ayers Rock from Perth.

Before I start trawling through the wads of information available, does anyone have any recommendations on things to do for a 3 day trip?

Cheers.

...sale is on from MEL and SYD as well. Wonder what inspired it?

but not Brisbane. Qantas feeling generous? (the price is still too high IMHO, come on Tiger, start competing! )

Great place to visit, but I would check your accommodation budget first unless you plan to stay in the camping area.

They have been, in a few months I have a $25 return (inc cc fee) MEL-ASP, which I figure for $25 is close enough to AYQ.

P.S. anyone who lives in Melbourne who isn't going to Darwin this winter, has rocks in their heads! (Once TT even went as low as $25 all up return MEL-DRW.)

In that case, maybe ASP would be a better destination for a weekend getaway?

Why pay $25, QF gave us a free look last night on QF9 MEL-SIN, the pilot banked one way then banked the other way so the other side of the plane could see. As it was we left MEL late, arrived SIN at the terminal 10-15mins before, i guess he was also told not to go so fast since maybe no slots in SIN if he was too early :)

Apart from the obvious of climbing the thing (bugger the detractors, it's very rewarding), Devils Marbles are good to check out.

Cheers,

The Devils Marbles are quite a drive north of Alice Springs (about 400km!). Perhaps you meant Kata Tjuta (aka the Olgas by you whities) which is in the vicinity of Uluru and definitely also worth a trip.

Cheers,

Andrew

You go there to look at the views and enjoy the walks, both at Uluru or the nearby Olgas....and the piece and quiet.

Apart from that there is little there. Think National Park....but with a healthy dose of accommodation , mainly up market and a small shopping centre.

Everything else is a fair bit further away......ie King's Canyon, Haasts Bluff, The McDonnel Ranges with all the various Gorges..and Alice itself........various old mining towns, Devils Marble etc.

So fly in fly out for a weekend at Ulru and the Olgas...but to see more you really want 5-7 days unless you want to only been in a car wizzing around doing the vast kms in between things..
