Family members never used it but have smart phones and 28 degrees\Bankwest\citi debt card.
So can I have the international info for starting and using in:
Netherlands-Amsterdam
Germany-Berlin
Austria-Vienna
Croatia-Dubrovnik
Italy-Venice
-Florence
-Rome
-Milan

Which is safest and best to use UberX?
Tips please other than 5 star drivers
Family members use AirBNB so have some knowledge of using technology.

Just google Uber xx_x - and you will get the City page.

Germany has been poor for Uber with court bans and shutdown, I think they are looking at restarting in Berlin.
In Croatia I used in Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb in the past month.

I have had no issues with UberX - it is the cheapest service.

You don't really get a choice of driver, and Uber cuts drivers if their average rank drops too far (something like 4.2 reportedly)

Biggest tip for newbies is be careful that you don't move the pin - and just check that its in the correct place - so long as you have a half decent GPS signal it will be.

Generally speaking you can either user someones referral code (like mine: trentl9) and you each get ~$20 free [varies on currency of each person] -- or otherwise sometimes they run city specific promotions, which you could google for and are possibly mentioned on the city page.

Had this happened to me one time where GPS thought "I" was 2 streets away from where I physically was. Fortunately this was in Sydney CBD so it was all resolved with a simple phone call between Mr Uber and I. Can imagine this might cause some stress if you're travelling o/s.

Yeah that's gotten me once, but from speaking to Uber drivers it's actually quite common. I think they need to work on alerting the user to whether the pin matches your GPS and double check.. a live GPS position to the driver also seems like a good idea.

Although moving the pin can be useful to get outside of surcharges, or say where your in a place but plan to walk a block or cross the road so the car is heading in the right direction

No - for $30 I can get $500Mbytes of roaming with Virgin Mobile - that should easily last the week I need it for.

I only intend to employ Uber for the one ride.

Are there any issues in using Uber with a local sim card when I am in South Africa? I have downloaded and enrolled in Australia but, apart from one failure, haven't used it yet. Thanks.
