UBER at Syd domestic

Does anyone know where they will pick-up at the Dom terminal off a QF flight. Is it even legal for them to do so

Re: UBER at Syd domestic

yes - you can, just call them into the public pickup area - the app is fully configured now so you just put in Sydney Airport & it will prompt you to pick domestic or international.

once the driver accepts just follow the signs through the carpark to the public pick up area

no need to rush once they have accepted as it usually slow for them to get into the car park at peak times

Uber have just announced that there will be a new pickup fee for all passengers starting on the 13th September 2016. This fee will be $4.00 and charged to the driver via the E-Tag. This charge will be passed onto the customer similar to any toll fees. Although not stated I am assuming that they will try and funnel all ride share customers to this new Priority pickup area. I also understand that anybody will be able to use this area however there will be no free time allowed and the first 15 minutes will be charged via the E-tag. (although I am not sure what happens if you don't have an E-Tag - I am assuming it won't let you in, in the first place)

As well they have also announced a new parking area between KFC and IMO carwash for all UberX drivers. (previously it was in the carpark between Macca's and KFC as well as the Krispy Kreme carpark) It appears they may have had too many complaints from these companies taking up space in their carpark. (and rightly so)

Below is a map showing the new carpark area (called Priority Pickup Area - Area 3 in green). It is closer than the old Public Pickup area to the terminals. As previously mentioned on other posts and media reports the old Pickup area is being moved to under the P3 carpark. Not sure when that is happening.

As well I noticed the other day while waiting to be picked up by my wife in front of T3, that there was in place new signs (covered over in plastic at this time). As far as I could tell these signs had bus stops on them for carparks as far as I could tell. I am assuming this is all part of the parking rules and areas. This small but usually uncrowded area was much better than the Public pickup area and if I am correct will be sorely missed.

The system of ordering an Uber has not changed.

Uber on...:)

Re: UBER at Syd domestic

You can get UberX now to pick up at SYD T3. When it was previously Uber Black only you had to select a pickup point outside the exclusion zone then tell UberX your real pick up location when they rang you.

Re: UBER at Syd domestic

Other airports simply have "pick up point A or B, C etc", why we can't just do that I don't know.

That would certainly make sense as I have had a couple of pax getting lost at the International airport because they have to walk through the carpark. That's a bit confusing for some people, especially foreigners...

Despite all the announcements and maps that have been going around the new Priority Carpark is the old Public pickup area... doesn't make sense to me but the left foot doesn't know what the right foot is doing.
