Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Status Match

A query about this condition:

  • A copy of your latest frequent flyer account activity statement with the competing airline (to prove that you earned your existing status by flying)

Presumably not necessarily the 'latest' statement, but the one where you did a motza of flying? ie if like me, you had a blizzard of flying a while back, and relatively quiet for the several months since?

I wonder if TK has status matched you before whether that would impact a new one?

Has anyone tried it what is the best bet partner of star alliance for status match what are the requirements if anyone has done it in past

UA does it a status "challenge" where they offer you UA Gold for 3 months and you need to earn at least (from memory) 15000 PQM's to retain Gold or 18000 PQM's to get UA Platinum. The only drawback with UA (for me, at least) is that all these PQM's need to be earned on UA metal, which is difficult for me because most of my travels are to Asia and India and taking UA to India/Asia via USA is super expensive.

So UA status challenge isn't for me.

But for those who do frequent trips to USA, UA status challenge is well suited, as you could get 18000 PQM's with a return J to SFO or NY from SYD/MEL (of course, depending on the fare class and any extra connections within USA)

I'd just send them the last 6 months worth of statements. Alternatively, you could send nothing at all and wait to see what they ask for - but this might delay your processing. The point is to offer proof that you didn't get your current status via another status match.

I wonder if TK has status matched you before whether that would impact a new one?

Most airlines will only ever status match you once. The exception is the US airlines which have the "5 year" rule.

They won't match Velocity status.

As per the article, they specifically match any of the following statuses:
  • Oneworld Emerald (e.g. Qantas Platinum, American Airlines Executive Platinum or British Airways Gold)
  • Star Alliance Gold (e.g. Air New Zealand Gold, KrisFlyer Gold or United Gold)
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus
  • Emirates Skywards Gold or Platinum
  • Etihad Guest Gold or Platinum
  • El Al Platinum or Top Platinum
 
I am thinking about trying for the extended version. Will be taking 2 Turkish airline international flights in 2 weeks - tickets using United points. Currently QFF platinum.
Does this work or do the tickets have to be bought with $$ ?
 
Has anyone tried this recently. I've filled out the form and it says I must complete all mandatory fields which I have done but I can't send it
 
I applied for a TK status match in 2014 and was about to apply again.
T&C’s say once every 5 years.....
Has anyone successfully gained a second match to QF WP?

To be honest, I think that's fair enough.

Where in the T&Cs does it say you can do this once every 5 years? I thought that only applied to the U.S. airlines' status challenges (AA, UA and DL).
 
For anyone following, this status match is still alive & well. @Matt_01 was recently successful in getting one.

Looking for help with what Star Alliance FF program to use.

I may have a go with TK for MrsM as that may sort out the lounge dilemma I am facing for up coming travel with CA. As a *G (SQ) I can only bring in one guest and there are 3 of us travelling.

I vaguely remember having this a few years back (before 2019)
