Where at Paddington station do I go to gettube to Waterloo? I’ve not been interested in taking tube previously. I’ve been through Paddington many times, some of this time is to then catch taxi to take train to Salisbury from Waterloo. My next trip I’m thinking of doing some things differently to make trip fresh. I do like travelling by taxi though. I’m one of those annoying passengers who ask questions, ie, where are we travelling through now (visualising monopoly board,, what time did you start work today, how long have you been driving a taxi. I’ve heard some amazing stories. So far no one has told me to shut up or given me the silent treatment

Bakerloo line is most direct.

There's an app for that though.
Download Citymapper and plan to your heart's content

Bear in mind there are two stations named Paddington.

One is the Tube station and the other is the London Paddington station where the Great Western Railway services to Salisbury and the other parts of the UK and home to the eponymous Paddington Bear whose statue is beside Platform One.

They are just across the road from each other and generally easy to find.

If coming in from LHR on HEX or overground, proceed through barriers at Paddington and look for the steps down to Tube in front of glass fronted Eat/Shopping section. There is a lift down if you have luggage, look to the right when coming out through overground barrier.

My advice is to just follow the crowd when you disembark and then look up as it's fairly well signposted. The Bakerloo line is an old school one and takes you back in time. Waterloo station is more of a maze than Paddington tbh. Are you exiting Waterloo or continuing on another Southern train service? If you take the tube make sure you have an oyster card or contactless to make it easier as I used to be a daily commuter through Waterloo and it can be unforgiving.

I didn’t realise it is possible to go direct to Salisbury from a Paddington Station. It sounds from your reply there is separate station to the one you arrive/depart HEX. Thank you.

AFAIK the only trains to Salisbury go from Waterloo and that is confirmed by this website.

Trainline | Search, Compare & Buy Cheap Train & Bus Tickets

Not sure if it's applicable and if you're going to be travelling enough but if you're over 60 you can buy a senior railcard that gives you about 30% off your train tickets. If you get it attached to your oyster card you also get a discount for that. The annoying thing is you don't get a discount if you use a debit card
