Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

At 12pm on Sunday (whilst AFF was down) Tiger launched 10,000 seats for $10 celebrating the new Sydney base.

Still appear to be some seats available.... but getting pretty limited.

Did anyone else end up with a $9 FL visit ???

There were a few for July 21 for the JQ35 but gone now, I am still happy with my earlier fare.

I see this posted here and there. My biggest problem with it (no not the F lounge access abuse! I completely support that!) is that you actually have to endure JQ Y-

Tiger is 'giving' away 10,000 seats for $10 on selected flights between MEL and SYD between mid July and late August.

Managed to get JQ to 'price beat' one of these flights at $9 (also paid $5 to select the prized seat 12A on the A321 with no seat in front). Total cost $14  :p

Goodness thats cheap!

For all those who complain about TT you cannot deny for competition its great to have them back in the skies - I doubt I would ever fly with them but would happily price match a JQ!

Yeah, I took advantage yesterday and booked six flights on JQ using the price beat guarantee - $54. Definitely worth it, and useful for the cheap Flounge run (although I won't be doing one :p).

Yes I have booked a couple of same day returns on MEL-SYD with friends for $18 return on Jetstar price beat. Just gonna try a couple of restaurants in Sydney, why not eh? Still plenty of seats too, been there since yesterday

Thanks for the tip.
Any body want to come flying and lounging on the 24/07/12. Just booked 2 return SYD/MEL for $36 with Jetstar price beat.
maggies1

I've booked a few of these for F Lounge runs. How have you guys booked the returns? I couldn't book a return for $18 as the 1825 MEL-SYD is within 3 hours of JQ35's arrival and the last flight is more than an hour after the last Tiger flight. I ended up booking SYD-MEL on JQ35 and then a seperate MEL-SYD on the 1825 MEL-SYD. 2 hours should be enough with OLCI, but if JQ35 is running more than an hour late I figured I'll just tell the F Lounge staff that I've missed my meeting or something and need to be taken off the flight and escorted out of the secure area.

Re: Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

I picked up a few, including the 21st July (got in early). Not sure if I'll use all of them yet... but for $36 return for two it's a cheap loss.

Re: Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

I do not know if I would be interested if TT was paying me $10/seat.

so fly JQ for $9 then, use QF lounges and survive in JQ economy which is barely any different to QF economy except you get a wider seat than a 738 and you don't get fed. I think i can manage for an hour and a bit, and I can have a couple of fun days with friends.

I don’t understand why Tiger persist with these publicity stunts and silly fares? We all know they can do cheap flights, we really do! That’s the only reason thrill seekers who love to play Russian roulette with their travel plans, risk flying with them. What we don’t all know (and would like to see) is their willingness to build a reliable airline (with a pinch of credibility). Instead, they are leading the race to the bottom by offering $10 seat fares in a pathetic effort to try and remain relevant? People may actually start using them more frequently if they demonstrated that they are capable of consistently delivering some reliable service. $10 fares are great (bring on the competition) but if you are left stranded, or massively delayed, it often cancels out the benefit of the cheap deal and wastes a lot of your time.

Re: Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

I'm not interested in ever flying Tiger again domestically. Done it thrice over the years...two times got cancelled and major delays...and the cost just doesn't cut it for me with the possibility of it happening again

Re: Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

Unfortunately I am booked solid July and August otherwise I would have searched for some cheap flights. Throw away tickets are good.

Now JQ on the other hand is a totally different story....

Re: Tiger - 10,000 $10 seats from 1-Jul

I had a look through whats available and there don't seem to be any left at the $10 for weekends. But there are plenty left at $10 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

wadebosse,
I think you will find that TT has changed a fair bit since their grounding last year. Granted there were a bit smaller than before, however, you have got to give them with being the most punctual domestic airline over the last few month (and also the least cancellation IIRC). With up to 11 flights a day between MEL and SYD, the chances of passengers being left stranded has reduced significantly.

On a related note, when I called the JQ price guarantee hotline this morning, the operator asked me (without promt) if I was looking at Tiger Airways when I mentioned to her I want fly from MEL to SYD ;) They must have had a busy day today.
