I am bemused at the current petition, which I assume would be signed mainly by non-Qantas Lounge members, to stop Qantas Lounge Members from watching Skynews in Qantas Lounges.

Sign the Petition

Regards,
Renato

Why are you bemused?

Sky News is a low quality channel with a parade of fruit loops (Andrew Bolt, Alan Jones, Chris Kenny, Peta Credlin and, formerly, Mark Latham).

ABC News, BBC News or pretty much anything else would make for better background viewing.

I am bemused that non-members have the grandiosity to believe they are entitled to try dictate what paying members should or shouldn't watch.

If Qantas Lounge members started such a petition, that would be fair enough.

Renato

Why do you assume that the majority of people signing it are non members?

I signed it happily as have complained about it before to Qantas as the response I got was that it was a commercial agreement but they would take my advice into consideration.... Its bad enough shows that feature people like Bolt and Credlin and co exist in the first place, let alone are shown in a public space.... each to their own I guess but some of the cough they have on that channel is just plain irritating and such poor quality in general, its an embarrassment to broadcasting in this country!

I do note though the staff change it to ABC NEWS 24 quite often if you ask politely thankfully.

Mainly because Change.org is there to let the poor, the downtrodden, the voiceless and the everyday people get a say.
Not quite the attributes I'd expect from those with lounge membership.

You see it differently?

Cheers,
Renato

Why would the aforementioned groups care what is being shown in the QF lounge?

Unless the 'issue' has been mentioned on your favoured Fox News of course...

What is truly bemusing is the flimsy pretext on which the petition is based. It seems quite arbitrary that QF lounges were singled out.
Sadly there does seem to be someone wanting to whinge about just about anything these days and just as many who want any excuse to turn it into a petty political vent.

Is that the same ABC that has been banned from Nauru. Then again we have to keep that left wing politics moving and supporting things like the Paris Agreement to sink us all down the drain.

Change.org tends to focus on left leaning issues you are correct, but political leanings do not affect a persons ability or requirement to travel.

What about the quality of Alan Jones 2GB Breakfast show. Any comment on that one or are the high ratings he gets a myth??

Can you point me to where I made any comment about a radio show?

And if ratings are going to be used to determine which station is shown by default in Qantas lounges, then ABC News should be chosen as it has higher ratings than Sky News (Source: Latest Available Reports).

I didn't say you did. I was simply just asking if there was any comment on his radio show seen as you are including him in the Sky News bashing session

Without any specific comment on my thoughts on Alan Jones (actually I don't really know Alan Jones as I've never listened to him), ratings does not equal quality. Rating's just means a certain number of people have decided to consume the content created by the individual / show.

Quality is based on a range of factors including lack of bias and high quality research, both things which are typically the first to give way when commercial realities come into play.

I agree but now that you have meantioned bias Isn’t that the reason the ABC have been banned from Nauru because of so called left wing bias

Not really a fair comparison.
One has to pay to watch the high quality Skynews, whereas ABC news is provided free by tax payers.
