Ok so I read the oneworld site that said ring one of the members to get a pricing. I rang Qantas twice now, joined the queue to wait for the call back. Twice Qantas called me back and once I asked my question, the line went dead. They hung up? Is it too hard to get something that their website (multi city) enquiry said I need to contact Qnatas? Am I missing something?

Ran into the same issue last year booking a OneWorld Visit Europe fare with AA. Took multiple calls to the call centre with hang ups, people putting me on hold, then hanging up on me. And needing to be transferred to the New Zealand call centre because I was paying with an NZ credit card as well as being hit with an $80 award book assistance fee. All I can suggest is to keep trying. Good luck.

I've had issues booking OneWorld type fares through their call centre too - I think mostly it depends on who you strike, some of them seem to know more about it than others. I was told once I needed to book it through QR even though none of the legs were with them!

The old trick used to be starting in another country and sometimes using it for 2 trips. I also book with AA to minimise charges but not looked into it for 2-3 years.

Agree and HKG is a good place to start use points to get there on daylight flight then Q points or cash for the rest, best bit is CX fly into so many US cities direct too.

Sort of related question .

Is SYD - SCL - LIM - JFK - ANC - LAX - HKG - SYD considered circular ? I'm not sure about the NYC ANC LAX part

Exceeds the 29K routing rules. Great circle on the posted route is 29784 miles and there are likely no direct flights JFK-ANC so even more miles would be required. Leave out ANC and purchase an Alaskan flight from somewhere in California to ANC and back

Happy wandering

Thanks heaps WF & good pickup on the miles I should have checked.

What about if I changed ANC to YVR. That gets under the 29000 ?

SYD-SCL-LIM-JFK-YVR-LAX-HKG-SYD is 27,583 mi.

Would need to use CX889 for JFK-YVR and one of 2 daily American Eagle flights for YVR-LAX.

If LAX is optional then just use one of the CX YVR-HKG flights.

Happy wandering
