Velocity earn for Revenue transcontinental in business is generally significant, so this would represent a relatively dramatic increase in points.
I considered do similar for the flexi.bookongs I.made last week which have been sent to business class with WP upgrades.
11k points difference it would be ... but I have decided not worth the effort.
Don't Velocity have to pay Virgin for points to pas onto pax J travellers? Just as Banks, credit cards, retailers have to pay Velocity for velocity points?
So as I called Velocity Gold Team, by them cancelling my fare & me being able to rebook with the Triple Points offer, aren't Velocity the company (being separate from Virgin) technically losing out as now they have to pay more for the points for my flight.
I understand they're in bed together as Velocity is owned by Virgin now 100%. right?
I remember during the VolAdmin times last year that Virgin actually borrowed $100M from velocity (at a prior time) so the more points velocity buy from virgin the quicker that debt can be repaid, via points not cash.
VA flattened many of their debts at that time, but the Velocity debt had to remain for obvious reasons.
Hence I think now 3 or 4 Triple Point offers since last DSC offer as the point offers reduced Virgin debt to Velocity & maybe more enticing for the non-status Virgin flyers. As points means free reward flights in the future.
Sorry if that's a little confusing & irrelevant, just thinking why velocity would allow me to cancel & rebook, it's really only advantaging me, apart from goodwill to a loyal status customer. only Gold at that.
Am I correct in my thinking? Happy to be corrected. Or banished to another thread, ha!
