So a couple months back i took up the velocity/flybuys promotion for a 3 month gold membership. Around the time i noticed that all my status credits disappeared. My SC at that time was around 150ish

Ok so now 2 months in and ive got the required 80 SC to successfuly maintain gold for the full year. But i have booked a lot of travel for my partner and I in 2019 and by my calculations should be enough to reach platinum by begining of july with family pooling.

Except i have noticed that my SC have mysteriously dropped down 3 times during this 2 months of being gold. I have no idea why. It wasnt by more than 5 or SC each time but it still bugged me as i know that all my status credits have been earned this year!

Im wondering what will happen at the end of the 3 month period? Will my SC stay the same as it is now? Or will i be given back the SC they took away before the 3 months began? Those 150 SC were earned in july 2018. Or even worse, will my SC revert back to zero at the end of the 3 months. I dont see why it would but i also dont understand why my SC keep dropping.

Anyway im sure the exact terms and conditions are written down somewhere but just wondered of anyone has any insight on this?

I made annual gold while on an Explore Gold trial (but probably wouldn’t have hit 80SC during the trial) and had to call them to manually apply it as when you are on Explore Gold it resets your start date. Did you have Coles/Flybuys SCs that expired throughout the year? That would explain it going down slightly.

Thats what i thought too, but i started the 3 months with 0 SC so it still doesnt add up as it hasnt been 3 months as yet.

When u say it resets does that mean it resets temporarily or those status credits (that u have at the start) are gone permanently? I was assuming they reset just for the purpose of the trial but i never read anything written about it at all.

It won't show properly while you're on Explore Gold but if you make Gold or Platinum over a one year period you're still eligible for it. Call the call centre and they'll sort it.

As you said your SCs dropped by 5 each time, I make an educated guess that it was because their corresponding flights was 12 months ago? I hate the way VA does their sliding 12-month SC calculations, but we're stuck with it nevertheless. I don't think it has anything to do with your Explore Gold trial.
