TravelPass with DSC offer (No Longer Offerred)

I have around 4k in DSC travel passes. Does anyone reckon qantas will screw everyone if you don't get to use them? or flights will open up enough next year that you would be able to use some of them, so only a small % of people will get screwed over... and qantas won't care, cause well they need the revenue?

🧐

I’m not sure what you mean. But if you mean will you lose the credit when it reaches the expiry date …. yeah I guess you may.

I don’t know when yours expires, but if I cannot fly between now and the TravelPass expiry date (31 Dec 22), I doubt Qantas will still exist with such a prolonged grounding of domestic aviation.

You will actually need to fly up until 355 days or whatever the Qantas forward booking is, not quite 1 yr, into 2023, just book prior 31 Dec 2022.

Yes will I and many others get screwed or will there be just enough international flights open for them to not extend the expiration date of travel passes...

Double (status) thanks to Lat34 and I noticed Dylarr had also mentioned this earlier. Tonight I gave QF a call as I had had a PNR go insane with changes (even the VIP agent had a chuckle and noted I'd been rerouted via Antartica :) ) and so cancelled that to a DSC TravelPass. I asked about a flight credit I had for a flight last week that *I* had cancelled (and honestly QF did not actually cancel the flight) but the agent very happily converted to DSC TravelPass also - as both of you mentioned.

I am a very happy camper with some confirmation emails sitting in my mailbox and I am sure the passes will arrive in due course. Happy evening!

I'm still finding ZERO success of the DSC actually posting without multiple calls to FF to chase up. Pretty annoying.

Hi all,
AFF newbie here, first post 🙂.
Can someone confirm re the DSC offer and if it applies to Lifetime Status Credits?
Last year when CV hit and flights were cancelled, Qantas offered me DSC or Double Points for the flights they cancelled. When I asked them if the DSC applied to Lifetime Status they checked and came back (twice) with an answer of "No". It suprised me but nothing I could do, so I took the Double Points offer.
Has anyone had validation from Qantas that the DSCs on offer now apply to Lifetime?
Thanks all... and btw this is a great forum! 👍

They dont do the below from the dsc tncs:

Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements

I had the same experience as you. It was also late last year when I finally heard from Qantas regarding a number of flights I had to cancel. They also offered me DSC or double points, but they also included another option to have an extra 10% dollar value added to my TravelPass. I was less than 500 SC from LTG so opted for the DSC only to be told they wouldn't be counted towards my lifetime status.

Now wondering if the offer of DSC which counts towards lifetime status is a new thing or was I given wrong information all along.

The travelpass I got last year in September has DSC attached with the following t&c.

Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements

I am comfortable it will count towards lifetime.

So much for that! Because of what I was told, I opted for the extra 10% value on the TravelPass instead

Thanks for clarifying ChrisMars.

Given we might all loose the entire value, I feel stupid I ever opted for them at all! Cash in hand is king.

Hmmm .. I just called Plat line to cancel a trip to QLD later this week, asking for TravelPass with DSC, like I was offered last time. Was told, sorry, those flights are still scheduled, so not refundable, so no TravelPass available.

Competely opposite to the last time, when I cancelled (not Qantas) and was pro-actively offered TravelPass with DSC!

Consistantly inconsistant ...

I think you got the right response this time. I think you got lucky last time.

Then they were incorrect in the previous offering. TravelPass or refund is only offered for flights that have been cancelled by QF.

... that said, it doesn't really affect me much, as the PNR already has a DSC attached, so even if the flights aren't eventually cancelled by QF, the benefit will remain, just a little less flexible and perhaps a little more difficult to follow up.

Yes you got "Bank error in your favour" in the Chance pile.... that was a one off! Sorry.

hopefully QF cancel for you.

As reported upthread, when I called about future booking Qantas cancelled, Hobart call centre offered a full refund but I opted for TravelPass with DSC.

Then I asked whether an existing travel credit (from flight I had cancelled) could be converted to TP with DSC - again no problem.

So who knows!
