Received email today. Here is part of it for those interested.

You, your family and friends can Save 10% on the cost of travel insurance with this offer from Travel Insurance Direct.

Promotion Code: TIDXMAS

$318.60 for annual worldwide cover for me and partner sounds like a good deal.

Are they any good :?:

I got the email twice so does that mean I can have double the discount?

Travel Insurance Direct is quite good but recently have found a cheaper policy through Travel Insurance Online (a QBE product) for under $200/year for a single traveller.

I have used them many times over the years and have claimed twice. Have been very happy with the value for money, the claims process and their generosity/fairness when paying out claims.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That $193 deal doesn't include North America though. Depends on your needs.

Yes you are right it does not include North America.

As I only paid ~$178 for the annual policy (further 10% discount) I am quite happy to have North America excluded. If you want to include North America as an option then the cost of the policy is ~$288 (including 10% discount) which is still a good deal.

An insurance company should primarily be judged on their willingness to promptly payout upon a reasonable claim. TID gets a big tick in this area.

There's a new offer (albeit with the same 10% discount):

Travel Insurance Direct is offering you, your family and friends 10% off the cost of travel insurance for your next holiday.
Visit: www.tid.com.au to get your quote, then enter your Winter promotion code of WINTER2011.

Thanks for that. The old one stopped working, but the Winter2011 works.
By the way, reading the PDS, there are a number of items (in particular Travel Delay) that says 'Nil excess'.
Does that mean there won't be any excess charged if they have to process a claim for Travel Delays? If so, I might consider going with TID and not checking the box which asks if I want to skip paying an excess. A couple of claims I've put in the past (not with TID) have related mostly to travel delays, nothing major like hospitalization.
