QF35 left MEL late yesterday shortening Mrs HockeyMonkey's connection time to TR430 in SIN from 2h 35m to about an hour.

She only had carry on, but was forced to go landslide to get a boarding pass resulting in her missing her flight (just). Is there a reason she could not use a transit desk airside?

To QF's credit, they put her up in a hotel and will pick up an Air Asia flight today.

Separate or single booking (I'm think the former more likely).

Was web check in not available? Checking In | FlyScoot

It was on one PNR. I assume web checkin would have been available, but transit ground staff directed her to go land side.

If online checkin is the answer, at least we know for next time. She is going to be transiting this rout MEL-KCH fairly regularly.

Web check in not available for connecting flights.

They have a 'scoot thru' where one stays air-side but it seems it's only available for partner airlines.

There is mention there of "Transfer E in the Terminal 2 transit area" in the case so it may have been an option, at least to ask.

From memory Scoot does not subscribe to the transfer desk facilities. One of only a few airlines not to offer that facility.

Yep Scoot transfers often require a landside visit.

I've managed to get away without needing to do this by booking separately (slightly more risky) but it means I've been able to do PHN-SIN on 3K then SIN-OOL on TR without going landside, obviously, this would work in reverse. It's worth noting that online check in for Scoot is only offered from Singapore (and Berlin but that's a bit pointless).

They made Mrs HockeyMonkey go landside coming home Scoot -> Qantas as well. Something is not adding up here.

If she didn't have an luggage then the Qantas transit desk should have been able to complete the check in without any landside visit. I get why the landside visit is required for a QF->TR connection but the other way around should have been fine.

I think the main issue Scoot/Qantas doesn't have an interline agreement. I'm not sure how it's been ticketed but you can't put TR flights on a QF ticket so there would most likely be two tickets at play here. One ticket would be on Qantas 081 stock and the other on Scoots GDS partner stock 169 (Hahn Air stock) (with the Scoot system unable to see the 081 ticket).

Whilst it was one PNR that would mean nothing to Scoot as their unique system can only see their flights (or flights of their partners SQ, MI, VA, etc).

That is what I expected too. Oh well, I might have to tag along on her next trip to see for myself ;)

Someone probably confused things as Scoot Thru not being available for QF.

Since no checked luggage to transfer, then it should not have been relevant.

QF OLCI or Transfer desk could have sorted that one out whilst staying airside.
