It's been so long since I've been in Western Europe, I'm clear out of practice.

I'm about to go SIN-xFRA-OSL on LH, same ticket, and bag is checked all the way through.

Will I do customs and immigration at FRA or in OSL? Norway, like Germany is in Schengen zone of course.

Last time I transited FRA in bound I have a clear memory of doing immigration but I don't remember picking up my bag

I haven't done that specific route but your bags would be checked through to Oslo. I think you would do immigration at Fra and customs at Oslo.

This is correct immigration at first place, bags at last

Hi there. Your bags will indeed be checked all the way through.

Your flight LH779 from SIN will land at the Z gates, you'll have a walk to the end of that pier then clear security then customs (to enter the EU).

Your flight to Oslo will then leave from the A Gates, which fortunately for you is in the same part of the airport.

I usually have to transit to B Gates (non-Schengen, for London) which is a huge schlep!

If you are in Business/First or are Star Alliance Gold, there are lounges waiting for you at The A Gates.

You'll then pick your bags up in Oslo.

Thanks all. Vantage03 says customs ( pick up bags, then no doubt on a transfer belt) at FRA, iltt and kpc have me doing customs in Oslo.

At the moment I'm leaning to vantage03, which is what the check-in agent said.

Anything further? :)

Sorry, I'm probably using the wrong terminology. To be clear, you will not have to pick up your bags at FRA, they will be checked all the way through SIN-FRA-OSL, assuming you ask the check-in agent in SIN to do so.
You WILL need to go through immigration in Frankfurt after landing, i.e. get your passport stamped into the European Schengen area. Then when you land in Oslo you will proceed straight to baggage claim and collect your bags.

A separate but related query. I'm planning MEL-SIN-FRA on SQ, connecting to FRA-TLS on LH with a short connection time but hand luggage only. Unfortunately the LH flight is on a separate ticket. I have both Australian and UK/EU passports. I shall leave Australia on the Australian passport (and SQ have details of that in their system; I'm KF Silver), but for immigration at FRA I intend to present the UK/EU passport. I'm hoping that will speed the transfer time. Is this switch of passports likely to present any difficulties?

Thanks again to all. Three answers, the same, and different from Melbourne check-in :(.

AFF wins again.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Just make sure you both enter and exit Europe on your UK passport. If you try to leave Europe on your Australian passport and it doesn't have an entry stamp, the officers could make a big deal out of it.

And this is exactly what happened (except for no 'customs' at FRA, as already corrected by V3 :) ).

Thanks; next flight is SVG- LHR, and I don't expect Heathrow has improved since last time I was there, when I swore I would never return after a worse-than-third-world departure experience. Departure this time will be from MAN, which may or may not be an improvement :)

BTW - you obviously do SIN-FRA quite a bit, and it must be on LH? .. I must say I thought the LH flight was terrific.

If you're flying SAS then you'll land at T2 which is a much much better experience than BA at T5, both for incoming and outgoing. One of the reasons I fly LH group.

Yes I fly LH to/from SIN and HKG on my trips to Sydney every 6-8 weeks. Next month is my next SIN-FRA on LH and that will push me into HON Circle with Lufthansa which will make my intra-Europe travel significantly nicer :)
