Hi

On the first week on September I will travel to Vanuatu from Denpasar Indonesia. It will be transit on Sydney for 5 hour. From Denpasar I use Virgin Australia and from Sydney to Vanuatu I use Air Vanuatu and I have some luggage. Do I sill need Transit visa for transit 5 hours? If I go to transit counter how about my luggage? Can someone help me, show me what should I do for Transit in Sydney?
thank you for all review and information that give to me.

best regards
Kris

If you are on a Single Ticket, with bags being checked through to Vanuatu, you may not need a visa. If you have to recheck, (which means clearing immigration) things are different, and you will need a transit visa regardless. It's free, whereas a Tourist Visa is at least AUD20

Hi,

Thank you so much for your reply. If let say, I only have hand carry bag, do I still need to pass the imigration and then Check In for Air Vanuatu or I can go to Transit Desk (without passing Imigration) ?
best regards
Kris

I take it that you are not on a single PNR (ticket). That's a question for your travel agent, Air Vanuatu and/or Sydney Airport if you booked the two separately. I don't want to push you away, but unless the rest of the forum can come up with something, it's not something that most Australian travellers do (ie go from one country to another via an Australian port). If you find out the answer, let us know!

Hi,

Yes I book the ticket separately, one for Virgin Australia (Denpasar - Sydney) and one for Air Vanuatu (Sydney - Port Villa, Vanuatu) and I'm Indonesian Pasport Holder. In Sydney I only stay for less than 5 hours, can I get boarding pass only from transfer desk? I hope other have a better answer, but anyway thank you so much for your answer here2go.
best regards

Best to contact Air Vanuatu. There are two transfer desks inside the airport. It comes down to whether Air Vanuatu uses it.
