Can someone please advise. Maybe @JohnK ?

Arriving into KLIA on an MH flight from NRT. Connecting to SQ 3 hours later.

(MH) NRT-KUL
(MI) KUL-SIN
(SQ) SIN-KUL

I understand Arrival and Departure is from main terminal.

MI and SQ one booking so no issues at SIN

J inbound and J outbound , no status, checked luggage.

What’s the procedure here?

The relevant part of this MH FAQ says they will check through when flying on an "MH flight number on codeshare partners connecting with flights operated by code share partners" (SQ is a codeshare partner on some routes)

This post suggests it will depend on check-in agent.

One thing I know from experience, perhaps by doing things the wrong way, is that any transfer in KUL requires a lot of patience...

Try to avoid collecting luggage and checking in again. I believe there is a transfer desk service at KUL if bags are not checked through. I'll check later to confirm.

Transfer desk did not want to help me re-tag bags airside the last time i was in KUL.

had to go out / collect the bags and then recheck it.

best bet i feel is to get the luggage sorted out in NRT. Seems like a YMMV thing under the existing policy. MH staff are outsourced in NRT so likely to follow the book (e.g. i could not even check in / get BP for my evening flight, when they were checking in at the AM!). FWIW MI is acutally a code share partner on the KUL-SIN route!

The transfer desk was part of the problem I had, you have to be assertive as they are not really reaching out to each passenger in front of them.

True but that's typical of a many service staff at airports.

Off topic here but just like the time we did not connect to the last CX HKG-BKK flight of the night travelling with an unrelated AFF member, business class and me Oneworld Emerald and was put on last flight of the night next night but they wanted us to share hotel room. You have to push to get the desired result.
