Sticky date pudding served on SYD-PER last month:

Was fabulous.

Cheese and ice cream also offered.
Not having tasted the QF sticky date pudding (so I may eat my words) I wish they offered something like that on the Kangaroo route. I would ask if I could have both the sticky date pudding & the ice cream. Sticky date pudding done well and served with ice cream is one of my favourite desserts. I have had chocolate pudding from the buffet at the CX Wing FLounge in HKG.

As i posted in the QF domestic J meals thread, the sticky date pudding was absolutely fantastic. Not a huge serve but was rich so couldn't really have had more.

Was served off the trolley, along with the ice creams and cheese plates. I won't pretend to know galley storage availability, but it would seem to me this should be pretty easy to do on any A330 service of more than a couple of hours (so including the trans-Tasmans) if not the 737s.

Is AUD599 for J and AUD1089 for F one-way generally as low as it gets on sale?
Just a couple of weeks ago AKL-BNE and AKL-MEL were $NZ900 for EK F. I didn't book (J on the QF A330 through SYD suited me fine and with better onward connections and obviously cheaper). Sale was ex-NZ only but return flights qualified too.

So I wouldn't say this is as low as it gets.

Had this menu flying from Sydney over to Auckland on QF149. Bottom of menu says September 2017 so hopefully it’s new. The pasta was really delish!

AKL-MEL, Jetconnect, 715am. Crew wasn't as chirpy as usual, but that might just be the early start. Menu was uninspiring - only option with meat was the bacon egg pastry. The pancakes tasted good but were tiny. I had some bread with vegemite to fill up. Never saw the lemon shortbread at all. Bonus pic of guy next to me who had his feet all over the bulkhead for 4 hours.

Pancakes have definitely gotten smaller than previous efforts.
The lemon shortbread was offered last week after they served everyone their tea/coffee. They were warmed in the oven as well.

What an embarrassing effort... I assume the soon to be canned EK offering is far more substantial than that.

Was a bit disappointed at the choice of mains. Chose the chicken and leek pie. It was good. The carrots were plentiful and the only accompaniment. Lucky they were good, though the FA chastised me when I left a couple on my plate saying no one was eating all their carrots.

The salad and roast lamb mains were on a flight from SYD to DRW later in the week. The lamb was also quite good.

That's a decent serve and reminds me of an island dining plate in SYD Dom J about two years ago. I'm currently in SYD F for an AKL flight (pics to follow on the other thread) and will definitely order this if I have the same menu.
Even though I had eaten well in the SYD F lounge too, this was as you say a decent serve and I enjoyed it.

EK flights to Oz aren't timed for breakfast. Never been on one to NZ but I too would assume those breakfasts are better than QF's recent offerings.

Pretty decent breakfast still available on the LAN flight to SYD. The other day I got really nice, albeit simple omelette with rosti. Two huge slices of banana cake and decent fruit bowl. When the stewardess saw I'd only eaten the fruit, part of the omelette and a few bites of the very tasty banana cake, unprompted she brought me the other option which was a huge plate of ham and cheeses and rolls (which I declined - but it was a nice gesture).

The EK breakfast we had in J MEL-AKL was completely inedible.
