Yeah... some interesting results in that. I wouldn't necessarily be basing my choice of airline on that table alone.

yeah...the table provides to me good reminder about the numerous carriers I have flown (31)

Several names are unheard of:

55 Porter
80 Peach
83 Air Nostrum
95 Mango
__________

Few others there:

27 Oman Air, apparently highly regarded, esp. J class.

82 Germanwings, pilot crashed plane to achieve notoriety. I heard carrier will ditch name for another.

Qantas and Virgin both over AirNZ? Did FIFA help with the ratings?

Air NZ has a split personality. It depends on which part of the airline your are looking at. If you just consider long haul J it's up there with the best. If you just consider trans Tasman A320 services then it's close to a LCC.

The 2015 list is due out in a few days, so this is somewhat old news.

Without knowing the methodology, it's impossible to place any reliance on the validity of the list. I gather that it is done by a passenger survey, but you would need to know the number of votes overall (could be a very small sample of total passenger numbers) and something about the demographics at the very least.

I went direct to the skytrax site.. the methodology is stated there... 18 million responses apparently, weighted by size of airline etc etc.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

LOL
Judging by the fact that Garuda is ranked higher then all of the above I'll say yes :p

This is supposedly airline service... not any perceived safety element.

I don't think there'd be many people arguing that GA is pretty good in terms of service, and their new 77Ws are looking pretty good too.

Fair enough. I thought the ranking of 'world's top airlines' takes into account multiple factors, not necessary based on safety but not only service.
Anyways, I'll choose QF with their inconsistent service any day over GA but YMMV.

As the results are based on the 18 million passenger surveys, it doesn't seem possible it can take in to account safety (most passengers wouldn't know). It can only take in end-to-end service (hard and soft offering).
