Flight Deals – Tokyo: Flying Japan Airlines nonstop from Melbourne for $658 departing between 10 October to 30 November 2017. All flights land and depart from Narita.

The Nuts and Bolts
This is a new service by Japan Airlines and will operate daily on this 10hr journey departing from Melbourne at 12.05am and arriving into Tokyo at 9.05am. The return leg leaves Tokyo at 10.30am and arrives back in Melbourne at 9.55pm. All flights are flown by a B787 (Dreamliner) with Economy Class seated in a 2-4-2 configuration offering 33 inch seat pitch. Entertainment comes via a 10.6 inch touch screen AVOD system and inseat power.


The Frequent Flyer Synopsis
This Economy class fare books itself in “Q” class (Discount Economy) and earns 30% of mileage flown. A Melbourne to Tokyo round trip can potentially earn 3,054 Flight Miles and 2,291 Fly On Points (determines tier level). The minimum amount required for a one-way Economy class redemption is 6,000 Flight Miles (Tokyo – Osaka) and 30,000 Fly On Points for attaining Crystal status.

Flights with Japan Airlines is also eligible for Qantas Frequent Flyer (QFF) points. However at time of writing Qantas had not yet updated its mileage calculator to factor these new Japan Airlines flights from Melbourne. A similar roundtrip from Sydney to Tokyo earns 2,400 QFF points and 30 status credits.
