Tiger's 2nd Birthday starts today. Everyday of the week there will be limited $2 "BIRTHDAY" fares, as well as "CELEBRATION" fares.

Today's $2 fare:
MEL-LST
MEL-HBA
ADL-HBA

List of Celebration fares:
Tiger Airways
Eg:
MEL-BNE $42
ROK-BNE $22
ADL-BNE $42

Hopefully some of those longer routes will be $2 sooner or later, especially BNE.

Just tried for about 10 different date combinations BNE-MEL-BNE and did not get anything, let alone a $2 fare.

I will be bored enough my last month in Australia

does the $2 include taxes and fees, or are we expecting the usual $28-$38 total?

I just booked MEL=>HBA=>MEL for Aug 2010 for a party of five, some, if not all of them will become throw away tickets... ;) and they are actually $2 each !

I select hand luggage only (otherwise $100 more, 15kg only), no insurance (otherwise $45 more), no seat selection (otherwise $XX more), and I actually have an australian debit mastercard (otherwise $60 more) , all up $20 for five return tickets !

Since Tiger have no OLCI, they would have to hold those (empty) seats for me....

Overall I am happy..

Although I'm sure worthwhile for some people, unless Tiger is going to pay me $2 to look up their web page I'm not interested.

lol just had to book a flight. Never have flown with TT and never will. Booked it with JQ and their Price Beat, paid $3.60 for a MEL-HBA-MEL. Also no credit card fees on these types of bookings!!!

gilby,

what is the max flight departure time difference for a price match ?
in this case I might book another lot of throw away tickets with JQ
, just in case either one of them have delays on the day ... :)

geez, at the end probably 20 seats will be wasted...

The max time for domestic is 1hr. So the Tiger flight has to be within 1hr of the JQ flight.
Lol it's only 20 seats if you don't travel, but for that price it's worth doing it.
But when you do call JQ make sure they don't charge you the CC fee and if they do, tell them they don't have a clue what they are doing, and call 1300 369 516

Thanks, I will find some time to do it, reading out 5 complicated names over the phone and without errors take some time.... :D

When booking the JQ price Match, the operator refused due to $0 in "Base Fare" in which states it cannot be zero in the T&C's. Called up again to another operator and didn't stop me nor seemed to even care.

Hmm...Personal Jet to Hobart for Family and Friends, only $360 if book quickly. Lol.

I don't think ALL seats will be at $2, may be 20 MAX...:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Under the fare you will notice that all of the $2 goes to the airport tax, which is $1.81 and GST $0.18... I am sure the tax will be different with other fare value, will this raise some questions ??

If they said they couldn't do it for you, they are incorrect. It's got a fare, for domestic flights in australia it's always a fully inclusive fare, not a fare which should be broken down.. Oh well... Stupid Salesforce Jetstar reps.

Thanks Sunstar. $110 each way to/from Nrth Qld - with 15k of bags - is still cheap in my book. I hope they're worth a try because I'd normally fly Virgin for 4x that.

Nope, but with the JQ price beat, as long as the $2 Tiger fare remains, you could book a whole A320 I guess:mrgreen:

Speaking in a very evil way, Tiger could have lots of these $2 seats available for SEARCH (so JQ can see it and have to do a price beat). However disable the booking at the credit card verification stage....:shock:

.... and very few people here would be surprised :!:

Yes we just booked 2 R/T BNE-ROK for the hell of it with JQ. The TT flights are just within the 60 minute window which I highly doubt is incidental. Total price for us both was $7-ish on the AMEX. Better make it worth it by going to the QP early :)

Maybe on the weekend if I have some time I'll look at the ~$20 fares, which I presume are $0+taxes. They have a bit more flexibility on them and again will go the JQ price match route. Interestingly, if it wasn't for the lounge access I wouldn't bother.
