Perth has lost a second carrier on the Singapore route with Tigerair Singapore to drop service to the West Australian capital in early February 2015 as part of the low-cost carrier’s network review.
A Tigerair Singapore spokesperson said decision to end service to Perth was made after careful consideration and confirmed the last flight to depart Perth for the city-state would be TR2717 on February 7 2015.
“The suspension of the Perth route is part of Tigerair’s network review process and is in line with our route rationalisation strategy,” the spokesperson said in an emailed statement on Monday.
“In order for Tigerair to continue providing low fares to our customers, we review our network regularly and make careful adjustments where necessary, to ensure that we’re operating efficiently as an airline.”
Perth was one of three destinations Tigerair Singapore was stopping services to, with the low-cost carrier dropping flights to Bandung, Indonesia, at the end of October and ending its Singapore-Phnom Penh route on November 11.

Surprising. Would have thought that should have been a great LCC route.

Good for JQ. Can't imagine many would be willing to fly via KUL.

Maybe QF may operate its "Seasonal Service " on the PER > SIN sector a little more often now as a result of TT pulling out.

Not a big fan of Tiger, but even if I was, the 3.20am arrival at SIN puts me off.
At least 3K has better timings!

Interesting news. Maybe PER-SIN just doesn't have the demand...

I reckon it's got more to do with the arrival of Scoot. The last three or four price beats I've done on PER-SIN have been against Scoot rather than Tiger.

I think Singapore Airlines still operates up to four flights a day on that route.

That does make some sense. So SQ have replaced Tiger with Scoot on the route.

Perhaps 5 different carriers controlled by just 2 airlines on the 1 route wasn't sustainable?!

HKG and BKK/DMK are the other destinations where SQ, TZ, TT and JQ operate to/from SIN but looks like they are still sustainable despite other carriers (full service or otherwise) all being on the same route...

From a ex-SIN perspective PER probably struggles to attract that many LCC passengers as the destination itself is quite high cost on the ground.
