Tiger Airways seeks public listing in Singapore | The Courier-Mail

BUDGET carrier Tiger Airways said overnight it has informed the central bank of its plans to list on the Singapore Exchange ahead of an initial public offer (IPO).

The airline said in a statement it "has lodged its preliminary prospectus with the Monetary Authority of Singapore on 21 December in connection with a proposed listing on the main board" of the Singapore Exchange.

That old joke comes to mind:

Q. How do you make a small fortune from an airline?
A. Start with a large fortune!

I somehow doubt it's going to make any of the new investors rich.

it certainly wont make the founding investors much money whenthey take out all the losses over the years

Listing to raise cash, perhaps the parent has had enough cash burn on Tigger.

Think I'll keep my cheque book well and truley in my pocket for this "investment".

As they say:
'The best way to make a small fortune in Aviation is to start with a large one'

Tiger's been good for keeping fares down in Oz - I hope they can last several more years at least ...

My thoughts exactly...like em or hate em it is fact that the routes they are on have come down in price.

I was looking at booking MEL-BNE a few weeks ago and was suprised how fares had crept up in price and how close QF/JQ and DJ were pricing each tier....perfect duopoly pricing! Once Tiger start on this route I am sure JQ will magically half their ticket prices.

JQ has already dropped their "everyday" price from $109 to $89 when Tiger starts on the route. I think we will see some heavy discounting on the AVV-BNE route when Tiger's competition starts.

I don't think anyone here will disagree. You don't have to use them to enjoy the benefits. ;)
Absolutely right, anything that keeps the other carriers on their toes is good for the travelling public.
