Sale fares were $10 each way per person from Melb to Mackay.

1) If booking for 2 people in the same booking, price went upto $79.95 EACH

2) We then decided to book at exactly the same time, but on 2 different computers (me on my phone / android app)... I was approved for $10 each way.... She was "sorry, try again later"....

3) Then tried it on her phone (android program), price went up from $10 to the normal price of $79.95.

4) She eventually booked on the normal computer for a total cost of nearly $110 return..

My gripes: Cant 2 people book together for the same cheap price? We bother clicked the $10 fare, but she somehow got "lost in translation (try again later!) and the price went up 790% ish (from $10 each way, to over $100 return)

They don't have an actual phone service for complaints! Call was disconnected somehow when person was telling me the cost of the same flights..???

Even when on the phone, the price AGAIN went up from $79.95 each way, to $80.00 (up 5 cents!) in an instant... All she could say is that the prices do change....

My first ever booking with tiger, they couldn't even get it correct! (price changes [flight wasn't fully booked, but in an instant gone from $10 to $80?] / try again msg (processing payment and booking) / no phone support).

edit: Yes I know the total price is way cheaper then the other carriers, BUT they can't even keep the prices low for an exact same / time / location / cost trip! (ie: 2 computers booking the same flight!)

To me it sounds like there was only 1 seat left at the $10 price. So once your seat was processed it was no longer available to anyone else.
I booked 2 people in a booking for $10 each - I didn't pay for the ticket I got a JQ price match
But I often do searches for 2 or 4 people and if I don't like the result I look for 1 person, then if its cheaper I see how many seats are left at the price by increasing the number of travellers by 1 each time.
There are websites that show you how many seats are left in the fare bucket but I don't use them.

Its unfortunate that the difference was so large.

There was probably one 1 seat in the $10 bucket this when you search for two it bumps you both up to the next fare bucket. Then you go and buy the $10 ticket which takes it out of inventory meaning none left in the cheap fare bucket! cough I know, but I find tigers IT much better than Jetstars when they have sales.

Yes not enough $10 seats on that flight. I had no issue booking SYD - Melbourne return for 2 adults & 1 infant.

I had no problem finding 3A and 1C on tiger for Brisbane to Melbourne return........and Jetstar had no trouble price beating it. But more tickets on this route I believe.

You'll find the same thing when there aren't any sales, and also on other airlines' websites, including Jetstar and Qantas.

If two people walk into a pie shop at the same time, and there is one pie left in the pie warmer, can they both have the pie?

Yes, there are still more seats on the plane. But no more seats in the $10 fare bucket. This sort of thing happens in every airline ticket sale. $1,800 (180 seats x $10) for a flight from Melbourne to Mackay isnt going to cut the mustard with the Tiger bean counters. That kind of revenue wont even cover the fuel to Albury.

I am just finding it hard to believe that someone moans and whines when they have secured a flight from Melbourne to Mackay for under $80

you got cranky over this? the website clearly told you initially it DID NOT HAVE TWO SEATS for $10!

Did you try looking for cheap availability for more than 1 person on other dates? Perhaps all the cheap airfares were gone on these flights.

Still a good deal anyway.

It also told us that it didn't even have 1 seat at $10, otherwise it should have given us a total cost or choices of extra cheap fair + regular fare.

Sorry if I've offended some of you, but not everyone shops for extra low fares! I would of thought sites would say "not many seats remaining", or other words to that effect.

I can't think of any airline site that would allow two seats at different prices as part of a single booking. They always offer two seats at the same price (ie same fare class & conditions).

That is correct and how all airline reservations systems work. You can't have two passengers from 2 different fare buckets on the one booking.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Same thing happened with my partner and I on Qantas a few days ago. And on Greyhound between SYD and CBR a couple of weeks ago. Pretty standard booking arrangement.
