The view from my "office"

My afternoon office today included a terrific sunset...

But I also ran into two guys drone fishing.

Step one. Attached the baited line to the drone:

Lift-off and and take the slack:

Fly the drone and your bait much further than you can cast:

In the end they took it almost 300 metres from the jetty.

I’ve no idea if they caught anything, but with half a dozen fish and chip shops within walking distance, does it even matter?

Good on them for initiative. Are the best fish further away from the jetty though? Surely a decent fish would drown the drone?

Interesting!

And, any dedicated fisherman or fisherwoman would know, it’s all about the chase not the eating! :D:p

Isn’t that why the good Lord invented the boat?

The view from the end of my office's driveway. No wonder I felt cold this morning.

I keep telling ya drron, you need to come east!

My lunch office today at a new winery and cellar door ( my new local 🙂). Boomer Creek

Very nice TGR Reisling ( twenty grams residual sugar) and of course pinots plus some others. Friends and I had a bottle of the Reisling with some terrine, brie, chorizo and crackers for lunch and the great view over Schouten Island

And we walked it off on our own nearby private beach.

There are at least a couple of Members here who, judging by the content of their Trip Reports of late, seemed to have come to the ghastly realisation that they have chosen the wrong careers, or at least are recognising the world is much more interesting when its not covered in flowers etc weeds. Like @JohnM and this post:

and @Daver6 with this:

A geologist friend (or one who is still practicing, at least) visited me and we went for a walk to view some nearby formations that get a bit of attention, (and see JohnM's post above). Bands and circles of iron within sandstone, or Liesegang rings.

Yesterday's office, and you can tell he's the one who still works as a geologist:

A nice 3D view:

Rings within rings

And then non-rings (you can make out the sand grains in the rock, for scale). How do they form? :)

IMG_3673(1).jpg

How do they form? The supposed answer is much more complicated than I have thought:

A process of precipitation known as the Ostwald-Liesegang supersaturation-nucleation-depletion cycle is known by the geologic community as a probable mechanism for Liesegang ring formation in sedimentary rocks.

Liesegang rings

I liked my explanation to JohnM better.

In the afternoon I went on to Strahan. The road to macquarie heads was closed-that is where the majority og the beached whales are. They were taking the bodies out to see.But where you were stopped there was evidence of the disaster.
