The view from my "office"

Well, I think I may have a little fun with QF.

I would have ignored the moth-in-NP rabbit Food (TM) matter - but within <1h of landing I had a 'How was Qantas?' email feedback request specifically for my SYD-PER flight today. Not one, but the first one repeated 1 minute later.

They clearly REALLY want to get my feedback.

I now feel hugely obligated to respond...;):p.

It doesn't take any imagination to guess that my comment theme will centre around moth-in-salad gives a whole new meaning to the 'NP fresh and seasonal' BS mantra. What is more, it could even be seen as giving new meaning to the 'sustainable' marketing BS sloganeering... :p
It is very reassuring to see such an awful situation being adressed in such a responsible way - get him drunk and he might forget about it! :)

These are very important data points. I'm guessing value of the wine c$10 each?

So a moth in the meal is worth $20 (or whatever it turns out to be). From this we can extrapolate for flies, earwigs, crickets etc.

Those wines are probably the best things the crew could immediately offer, being their J class tipples. (They retail for about $30 - $40 - but yes actual direct cash cost to QF prob very close to $10 each :) )

But really, I think QF went way and beyond to make this pax happy - am extremely impressed by the research QF must do on their good customers, their brilliance in creativity, and overall sheer dedication for passenger enjoyment:

(1) They worked out Johnm is partial to wine.
(2) They worked out that despite being a Botanist, he also enjoys a secondary gig as an Entomologist.
(3) They knew a botanist would be bored with the usual NP inspiration salad.
(4) They went out and found a rare moth and cunningly placed it in the meal.
(5) They knew that by timing it perfectly, he would have a few drinks in him by the time he saw it, thus making identification of the rare moth even more challenging.
(6) And they loaded an extra pair of their current red and white J offerrings, knowing he would post these here and gain them some publicity.

Made for a memorable and entertaining flight, a fun series of posts for the benefit of us AFF people, and everyone one comes out smiling and a winner!

Even the punchline, the email survey, was a wickedly funny finale :)

@juddles, you have an art, mate, you have an art :).

The thing that is now intriguing me is whether I'll get a response from QF to my feedback survey.

Those online survey things are tricky because they do not easily provide for nuanced responses. How could I score the flight experience very low when the crew was great? If they don't read the comments, then the NPS for crew would look bad - and I would not want to impose that on them.

I scored 8 for the flight experience, so that becomes an acceptable NPS, but then I added the comments about the Lepidopteran (and how it gave new meaning to the NP menu).

If they don't respond (err, err... 'reach out') then I will be confident that no human interacts with those surveys.

I shall report back, but I guess I should allow two months before making any conclusions ;).

There are only so many times one can post pictures from the same office....but that won’t stop me. Back again at the HI at Dunstall Park and in a move from my favoured car park shots I give you one of the horse park. 😛

What about the story within the story. Where are the two lovers off to, wandering between the horseless park and wet road towards the lights of civilisation.
