The view from my "office"

You’ll need to zoom in on this, but I wonder who was the bright spark in management who insisted on submitting the JL ground staff to this cringeworthy performance. And I wonder whether it was repeated on the other side...

They stood there for some time after the tug pushed the bird back but it was a while before clearance to move.

Departing SIN for NRT this morning.

You don't fly JAL very often then. It is a regular thing they do -we have seen it for every flight we have had on JAL ! Even on the trains in japan the conductor bows on entry and exit from the carriage. It's a Japanese courtesy thing.

Agreed, but also this week JAL have been having various events in memory of the 1985 crash survived by just four out of 524 people.

"Cringeworthy"? Nah.

So for the past week the weather in Wales has been 2-5C below average.Sadly this very likely means that there have been more deaths in Wales this last week than a similiar period during the recent heatwave according to peer reviewed research in the Lancet.

'Vasa' - a 'mighty ship' which only managed to sail 1300 metres on its maiden voyage before sinking in 1628

I thought it went down the slips into the harbour, and then more-or-less toppled over straight away, right in front of the King? Ooops either way.

I haven’t flown JL a lot. But I do understand, love and respect the Japanese politeness and bowing. It was the - to me - cheesy sign and waving, rather than the more usual respectful bowing that I found cringeworthy. It seemed like a Western (aka LOTFAP-like) PR corruption imposed upon the staff, rather than heartfelt tradition.

They may have done it at NRT this morning, but I was on the outside at pushback, so couldn’t see.

I unreservedly apologise if I caused any offence, should there perceived to be any connection between my comment, the sign and remembrance of a tragedy that I was simply unaware of.
