The view from my "office"

I had plenty of time for a leisurely run back to Salta today so I opted for the scenic route through another cloud forest. It was a gorgeous sans clouds day. It was only about 175km but it took a good three hours or more.

Here we go again... ;).

It was a good sealed road, but incredibly narrow. Also, Sunday drivers were out in force, so another reason to take it slow and steady.

Climbing up the E flank of the sierra, the vegetation was thick and lush; pop over the hill onto the W flank and it open up very quickly.

View last week at the Hague. We avoided the bigger, more populated store (that buses go to) and went to one of the original buildings. Enjoyed a quick 10min private tour (up 2 steep flights of stairs if you have mobility issues but I made it so most will) and then escorted to the store and left alone. No pressure selling, picked up my Christmas decoration

Flightpath took a northerly track. Pretty neat, as it went over the Sahara acroos much of Algeria, so parts of the world not so commonly tracked across. As I figured, and confirmed in a chat with the Captain, the path was because of the issues QR has with its regional neighbours.

But he did say that the track going to S America tends to go more to the S across the centre of Africa and the return track does tend further N anyway. Elapsed time turned out to be about 14:30 instead of the scheduled 15:15.

Also confirmed that QR is flying over Syria.

I had breakfast over W Algeria and then some dinner over the E Mediterranean. The wine supply was running low, so I missed trying the Pomerol. The FA was most apologetic but said a group of blokes over the other side of the cabin had been drinking pretty steadily while I was slumbering.

Must have been geologists :mad::mad: or maybe medicos :p:p:p. Whatever, the usual situation of the poor old agriculturalist missing out... again :(:(:(. But at least the medicos may have an understanding and appreciation of where their wine and food comes from...:D:p.

Now in the Al Mourjan lounge waiting for the bird to PER (A380) (the bird from EZE was a B777) departing in about an hour.
