The view from my "office"

Decorated menus and a free magnet to celebrate their national day.. But not allowed to open the bubbles till up in the air, unusual. Must be the agreement they have with the Danish government... Their signature drink it shall be then!

Holidays yes of course, but he wasn't so kind to Christine Nixon when she has the temerity to go out to dinner during the Healesville fires (and she said she was available on the phone). Not such fair dues. Anyway, no photos from Hi.

Not MIA, On leave. I think that's allowed. I know the Opposition Leader doesn't have a problem with it.

Your comparing Nixon's absence at her hairdresser, dinner and publisher at the height of fires for which she had immediate responsibility for her Emergency Services, with the PMs absence, when he has no responsibility whatsoever for the fire response, other than kind words and sympathy? In emergencies, the best place for politicians is as far away as possible, so they don't consume the time of people doing their job.

But probably not a good time to bring up Nixon, with her giving testimony yesterday to the 'lawyer X' RC that she was clueless about the affair.

Showing your bias along with PVO.
Christine Nixon was in charge of Emergency services on the day of the terrible Victorian fires in 2009.She had an obligation to be on duty.
The PM is not in charge of Emergency services which are under State control. He would just be getting in the way.
In no way comparable situations.

Yeah, no bias on here! To comment on something from whatever angle if it is not agreed upon on here does not mean bias. Geez, even The Aus mentions it ;).
I think that if I had made those comments, I'd slink too. How can the PM be considered to be "in the way" making any sort of support from his offices/home. The optics are of his own making.

If a discussion is escalated by bringing in other history (Nixon and police), it could go for quite awhile in a tit for tat. A good discussion is to stay on topic and not escalate to suit what you think will bolster the message.

That's it for OT for me.

So I’m wondering why you brought Nixon into the discussion here?

BTW a lovely day here in southern Tas, low 20s, after a cold and wet month to date.

Where is the dislike button for that weather

Currently 42 in Adelaide and forecast 45 tomorrow :(
I found yesterday much worse as I was driving in the heat from 9am until around 2pm doing chores. Car was in the shed and as I pulled out at 9am it was registering 40 and up to 45 a couple of hours later.

I’d post a picture of Henley Beach but it’s too friggen hot on the balcony.

OT - no way would I want any variety PM meddling in operational matters and everyone deserves a holiday and let’s face it there will always be some kind of reason why they shouldn’t in a country as vast as Australia. And I’ve noticed that just when we have the time to properly read it, The Australian is skeletally thin over Christmas and New Years because they have all gone away.

Meh, just braved it. Tomorrow will be like Hades. It’s so hot that’s it’s too hot for the beach.

The guys working on this deck have been amazing. Every day for the last hellish week they’ve been putting in a full shift. Not our deck but neighbours.

I feel a bit of a cheat because this shot was taken from a temporary office. It was such an impressive car park I couldn’t resist. I suspect many of you will recognise the Grantham ASDA car park!
