Welcome to Newcastle. You took the bottom photo looking across the harbour towards my home in Stockton (obscured by the sheds).

Crown Plaza Hotel Newcastle. Just broke for lunch. The group decided to eat outside which was fantastic and a shipment of coal wagons went by. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1416448636.123180.jpg

Not quite a depiction of that well known line "It's like shipping coal to Newcastle' but that is pretty dam close ....

I've run away from the office. Currently in Burnside Village.

This Christmas tree is the seasonal replacement for a huge Eucalyptus tree that was in the way when the shopping centre expanded.

They weren't allowed to remove it so they designed an open air roof over it.

Four years later it was dead.

They've recently filled in the open air structure seen below in what looks like corrugated iron (super fancy corrugated iron because it is Burnside, after all. ;))

We can see the structure from the windows on our second level at home.

And it is bucketing down at the moment. Fantastic.

One of the most beautiful harbours in the world and arguably the best city as well.

Not going to argue with anyone though. I am home sick.

Whilst I won't enter the 'best city' discussion, I would agree that Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities to fly into.
