If anyone is interested in the future of flying with qantas maybe todays flight is an example

After calling qantas re them jacking up the base fare by $160 when i was using a voucher, i just agreed to pay the extra without arguing despite me offering them to send photos of the booking screen as I wanted to be in sydney for a funeral(My choice)

$960 base fare then 10,600points to upgrade to business.

no headphones(covid)
No movies(i suppose the actors are on strike?)
Tuck shop food

i’m happy that I arrived safe though,14 days isolation on the return trip to WA

And we are hoping to fly SYD-PER in August.AA J award.
But I feel even if the borders are open your Premier will insist on 14 days quarantine.

These service reductions have been in place for some time now, see here.

Flying at the moment is really just to get from A to B if you need to travel, rather than for an experience to be enjoyed.

Thats fair enough, but it should be clear what service level you will or will not be receiving.

if I was told clearly that you can choose between an apple and cheese I would have bought something in the terminal.

like I said before, I arrived safe so im all good

The meal, pictured, especially for a PER-SYD flight in J, looks like a rather poor effort, COVID or not. Is that the best that they could do?

As bad as it is, the honest truth is they don't need to try hard at the moment. The only people travelling right now are doing so out of necessity and they will fly regardless of the food, lack of IFE etc. Case in point - my father had to do a work trip with a colleague from MEL - SYD (VA), SYD - CFS (QF) two weeks ago. All up the airfares for both of them were $2,200 and it was only one way, not return... from Melbourne to Coffs Harbour in economy!

Thanks for sharing this. I was thinking of booking a J reward PER-MEL next month, but after seeing that photo - I'm just going to book Y.

Appreciate service changes are required given the current suituation - but it looks like they've put in no effort whatsoever to differientiate between J and Y - it seems the only benefit at the moment is extra room/lie flat seat.

No worries at all, thats why I thought I would post it up. Save your money and/or points. There was no difference in service at all along with none of the lounges open.

plenty of seats to spread around the back of the plane.
Save your cash and buy a carton of wine at dan murphys hehe

Totally agree. If needing to travel now, there really is no point in forking out the premium either in cash or points to travel in the premium cabins when there is almost no soft product to speak of.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The product aside, this issue of prices being increased when using a voucher has come up before and is totally unacceptable.

Yeah - I hope someone can screenshot this anomaly and then email the screenshots directly to the ACCC and/or relevant state Dept of Fair Trading, lay down misere case closed.

Soooo... can anyone help me understand...

QF is telling us that flying is very safe. Risk of transmission on board is extremely low. Perhaps no reported cases of on-board transmission?.

So safe is flying, that the middle seat doesn't need to be kept free.

But confusingly, cabin crew can't serve a hot meal? Cabin crew can't pour hot water?

So which is it? So safe we can sit three across in seats just 17 inches wide. Or so unsafe cabin crew can't turn an oven on?
