The Explorer Credit Card (New AMEX Card!)

If people that get the points can confirm if it's gone into gateway or another program like ascent that would be helpful

Business Accelerator. Cancelled Virgin Platinum a month ago and Platinum Edge within the last 18 months.

Thanks for letting us know. I am not 100% reassured though. I think your "business accelerator" card is not your regular 'consumer credit card'.

"Card Members who currently hold or who have previously held any other Consumer Credit Card product issued by American Express Australia Limited in the preceding 18 month period are ineligible for this offer"

This appears on the right side when selecting the Explorer card (it's referring to my existing Plat Edge Card)

When going to Platinum Edge, the transaction on the Explorer (Coles) shows and calculated at 2PPD

Seems to be half half linked to existing and not linked when there is an existing ascent program from reports here. We should get some confirmations soon whether those with linked points programs get the bonus points.
Also those wasted missed 26 points

Wait so did you get the bonus points for the Explorer card?

Unsure if the bonus points will post. It seems that they only post if a new rewards program is opened. I'll put about $2000 on it tonight so should know in a few days.

On another note, I had planned to cancel the platinum edge however given the annual fee is low I thought I might keep it. I assume there's no issues using Amex cashback offers (shop small etc) on two Amex issued cards? That will basically offset the fee

No issues here the last few years - I bought a crumpler bag across about 5-8 cards last shop small. The funny thing is the guy at crumpler said that was nothing, someone bought a Vis-a-Vis suit case on it (they start at $395) at $20 a pop that's a lot of cards.

How do we know if we going to earn MR points ? Instead gateway ? Is there a way to check ?

Card limit only $3000 Most of bills above $10k. I had experience with amex before, they not really happy when you inject money beyond credit limit, they will call you and explain about money laundering.
I have overpaid my credit limit a few times on Amex the most recent last month. They don't seem to care enough to call me.

I don't understand in this day and age why Westpac and CBA in particular still don't have different card numbers for supps and statement itemization. Amex has been doing it from year dot.

ok i can confirm on my account at least that my Explorer is earning 2 PPD on ascent premium
scoopon purchase gave 2PPD .

now just waiting to see if the $1500 purchase will trigger bonus points - fingers crossed

planning to cancel the plat charge now that i've got explorer so it'll be interesting to see if they'll let me keep ascent for explorer

If you have the Edge credit card, you might get to keep Ascent, but without the Platinum Charge I think you will lose Ascent Premium.

New development, reached the limit, transaction cleared today. In the rewards drop down menu there is now Gateway program as well as Ascent but there are no points posted at all for transactions or bonus. Called Amex and they said it takes up to 72 hours for the new program accounts to activate and the points will post. Was too scared to ask about the bonus points in case they tick some box not to get them lol  so a bit more waiting and Ill know.

I think that is a good development - I would be more worried about getting 100,000 Ascent Premium points rather than what I'm 'entitled' to on the Explorer card. I'd rather get the right points in the right account from the beginning, so it seems your account at least is in a good position.

What's it say under your explorer card? Still that it's linked to the edge or nothing anymore?
