Trying to link a complimentary lounge pass to my Mum's Jetstar booking for travel tomorrow.

Getting an error:

Something went wrong!
Please try again later.

Digging a bit further, when I check the web inspector to try figure out what is happening I can see the endpoint requested to link Jetstar bookings is currently returning a 404 error.

Clown town!

For the past three days, I have been trying to link a complimentary lounge invitation I sent to a work mate to her flight on Sunday. The invitation is in her QFF account but there’s is no ‘link flight’ option. It’s the same with the remaining invitation in my account. Neither QF chat or the QFF service centre can offer any explanation as to why the link isn’t there and no offer to circumvent the problem to allow her access on Sunday. QF chat suggested it could be a browser or device issue but we have tried 6 different devices and 3 different browsers! Best QFF service centre could do was send a general internal enquiry asking why there’s is no link.

Is there a thread on how to plot a DONE4 flight ?

Highly recommend reading the fare rules on EF (search SYD-SYD and it will come up) then hop on gcmap! Once you've found your ideal itinerary within distance restrictions hop back on EF to find flight numbers with D inventory, then call carrier and book! Oneworld used to have a tool for plotting itineraries but I think they scrapped it when they redesigned their website about a year ago.

Not a thread. Just go to the OW site: oneworld

So it is not scrapped.

It has a lot of upsides - like being able to save various iterations of what you are planning either on their site or own your PC. I typically play around with eg. 2020A, B, C etc until I've figured out what I want.

You can even book and pay online - but if Australia-based it will default to QF and that is an expensive way to do it.

It is now possible, if Australia-based and wanting to begin and end in Australia, to use a TA to book an xONEx ticketing to another OW carrier. The saving is likely to be in the order of $1-2K on a c. $14K QF DONE4. But you need to have a TA who knows their stuff. There is one on AFF. ;)

But there are, inevitably, downsides. The tool is good for general planning but is not perfect. It will not pick up on married segments IME. But that is really only likely to be a problem if you try to play games, like I do, with errr, slightly indirect flights in LOTFAP. ;)

You just need to be a little flexible in those circumstances.

Before the relatively recent change to TAs being able to book ex-AUS on other carriers, I had planned, booked and paid through the OW site (ie. QF), so it definitely works. But there are more cost-effective ways to do it now.

I have been buying a DONEx annually for the last 15 years; this year's is #16. I always use the OW tool to plan it - but now I buy through our gun AFF TA.

PM me if you want more info or get a phone number for a chat.

The mods may want to hive this off to a DONEx thread, as we seem to be going OT.

Clicked on the link to the calculator just now, and this is what I got:
Looks like a 404 error

We're having trouble finding what you're looking for. Try checking the web address and refresh the page. If that doesn't work, head back to the homepage.

A little amusing feature was that the QF homepage is poor to load when using their in-flight wifi. When attempting to access the booking engine on the QF home page yesterday on my laptop so I can plan the next trip waiting, everything else loaded in each reload but never the actual booking engine part where I'd enter the departure & arrival cities and dates.

Kind of ironic to effectively block your own customers from new bookings, especially when the AY, BA and CX pages worked all OK and JL most of the time (albeit very slowly). 😆

Something like that has happened before. After some particularly silly tinkering by the work experience kids, the old ‘book business’ button was disabled. No one could book a business fare for ... I think it was a day. 🙄

OTOH you can save a lot more money by using that Aussie TA to book the xONEx starting in a location with a less expensive base price.
And the FlyerTalk One World thread group ** has far more information ** than most people would care to read. And quite a number of Aussie contribitors.

I have bargained with a TA in Perth and one in Colombo who both have been quite accommodating on booking with airlines other than QF. And for those who have budgetary restrictions, Oz and NZ are two of the most reasonable places to start a LONEx journey. Oslo is a bit out of the way...

Still wandering
Fred

PS: the rules are the same so it should be an xONEx thread, if one is started on AFF....

The Qantas Frequent Flyer e-mail ticket system is absolute garbage.

I know it has been mentioned earlier that e-mails to the frequent_flyer e-mail address generates a new SR number each time you send a new reply which spawns a new support request that often means double handling of the one request by a myriad of agents.

However recently I've noticed that e-mails to the address, especially with attachments, just vanish. If you don't get an automatic response with the SR number, then you won't get a reply because they will not have received the request. I've noticed recently I've had to send the same e-mail 4 or 5 times from different e-mail providers in order to get at least one SR number back which means it has been placed into the queue correctly.

You cancel a classic reward flight online, and it still appears among your bookings several days later. Why does everything take so long?

It’s not a gripe but a comment. The search for flights box has cities prefilled with no X box to delete it - you have to back space the complete word. Plus there are so many warnings filling the screen on an iPad it’s actually hard to see where to search.

This may look ‘pretty’ but every input takes extra steps and longer to complete! Very annoying when doing multiple searches.

This is more of a question than a gripe, but wondering if anyone can help.

I recently booked and flew a single domestic segment, using the app to book. Even though I was logged in to my FF account , the app somehow managed to put my middle name in the first name field. Thus, when I checked in, my QFF number was gone, and I similarly could not access the lounge until I showed my QFF card. The lounge agent said it was due to the name issue which I hadn't previously noticed - she said she "forced" my QFF number into the system but was unsure if that would "take." Since it was domestic without ID checks, I had no issues actually flying, but predictably my points and SC's are not appearing a week later. Will I find that a missing points claim gets denied for the same reason? It's only 10 SC's and minimum points (SYD-DBO), but every bit counts. Any suggestions?

Had a update for my QF app on the iPad a couple of days ago and since then I can no longer search for award flights which is a royal PITA. I now have to go on to the QF website to search for award flights. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this or not

More an IT quirk as opposed to a gripe.

I've booked a paid OPO-LGW with BA via BA site. As part of the booking process I entered my QFF number, don't have EC account with BA.

Can see the booking on the QF app on both Ipad & Android phone but it doesn't show if I'm logged into my QFF account on the laptop. It was there for about a month after I booked but then dropped off.
