Yes, another thread but this one is about you. Are you OK?

Im feeling burnt out already. Yesterday I was saying to my husband, as we were being stupid and dancing around the living room to 70s music, that at this stage I would welcome a two week lock down/work from home and just be silly because Ive found that Ive been consumed by all the news and threads. Now that Ive accepted that money has been lost on our next trip, Im actually feeling better about cancelling everything and just moving on.

So are you OK, how are you feeling?

I have now accepted that our next trip is no more and we probably lose some money.Totally at peace now except to look on in complete amazement at the idiocy and selfishness of many other Australians.FFS how much toot paper do people need-buy shares in manufacturers of toot paper!
Our Woollies is restocked overnight but by 0930 it was being restocked again especially mince and frozen veggies.

I'm OK about cancelling my trip but have already decided to reduce my exposure as a step to self isolation. I was out and about yesterday but actively trying to avoid crowds and stay a meter away from others, and decided against going to the gym today. What primarily concerns me about this is the prospect of outright boredom if this sets in and we need to isolate for 4-6 weeks.

I have niece in HK and boredom is the one thing she says is weighing on her mentally.

I was very stressed for a few days spending days on hold with SQ and QF negotiating changed flights and then trying to decide if I would in fact travel at all. Now, I am at peace with the no travel part, but hoping my flights which I still have intact w'changes, get auto cancelled by the airlines soon. SQ not being magnanimous as yet. Eight hotel bookings all refundable will be the last to go. I'll continue going to the gym for a while.

We r ok.. for now.
We have a brush with the bug that has so far gone nowhere, first line contact is negative atm , but quarantined.

Hold the hugs.. we really are fine
Just to clarify…we are a two contacts separated from the positive, the first contact (partner) is quarantined. ( on a yacht … first world solution !!!)

The second contact has gone bush to play golf and drink wine
We are carrying on as normal...

I'm alone here in Aus (healthy atm) but my elderly parents are in the UK. My dad's dying and his care home is in lockdown and my mum's dementia is causing all kinds of stress especially now the UK gvt want to isolate the over 70s for 4 months!!!!

I was supposed to be flying there next week but not going now. I can't really afford the financial loss but it's the emotional mess that's hurting me more!

Im so sorry that its being extra stressful for you. Please make sure you talk to someone, even here, if it becomes too much to handle.

I'm pretty bummed out. My parents had to cancel their trip here and so we've had to cancel our trip to NZ too. It's my dad's 70th celebrations as well as the trip coinciding with my daughters and mum's birthdays, so we had some great things lined up.

The annoying thing is the credit from QF for our NZ trip. A third of it is my parents money and now its tied up in some QF voucher.

Along with that, both Mrs AS and I work at a uni, both working on direct communications to students, so were both tired and stressed and need a freaking holiday.

We’re deciding whether to accept the qantas voucher for fares to New York in August, or take a chance that travel is either very safe or very cancelled by then. We only booked in Feb so would need to reuse them by next Feb if cancelling. Not going also probably means $4kish in lost accomodation if Agoda and the hotel won’t play ball. We have around 1M Velocity points I’m quite concerned about as well.

With that said, I’m grateful that the people I know are being sensible, not bulk buying, checking in on others (as is being done here) and that we are in a financial situation which means losing that money, whilst it hurts, won’t be the end of the world.

Completely relaxed. On a plane home to Oz in QSuites having played hopscotch with the virus in Europe.

Travel agent did 2x bouts of DONE4 rearranging and got penalties waived. Conservative hotel bookings mean all but one night of 14 not used in cut-short trip are not chargeable. I've cancelled another tour in April never mind, another time.

Will be in self isolation on arrival - don't mind that, plenty of work to do. Hopefully won't have the virus manifest itself; extreme sanitation practiced for the past 10 days so touch wood.

May get some angst when I check the super portfolio though. I think I'll put that off, but a conservative approach means I have at least one year of living expenses in cash.

Can I suggest you don't look at your super - I just did and happy hour is occurring much earlier today so I can drown the pain - thank god I have enough booze to get me through at least two months of self isolation

Sad for my trip to South Africa vaporizing and costing me stacks but a minor price to pay when I think of my parents and my partners parents and their health issues.

Focus now on preparing my work (local government) for work from home. I’m the IT manager for my Council and I’ve dealt with more than 400 emails today and split my team with half working from home. My UTS masters course has had classes cancelled and my partner is working from the kitchen table for the next few weeks.

I’m sort of OK but not sleeping at all.

I agree with you this is how I'm managing the overload:

- Only dipping into news / threads etc for a small strictly limited amount of time a day from trusted sources only
- Screen free at night completely
- Candles all around our house at night
- No murdoch.com rubbish at all
- No social media for a few weeks

Bit bummed that the 2nd half of my first ever OWA in May/June will in all probability not happen & I'm pretty sure TI will not cover it when it eventuates. On the bright side I did get to do the first half & had a great time!

I could have also picked a better time (not that there is a good time) to fracture 3 ribs & a couple of transverse process's on my lumbar vertebrae. Nearly 4 weeks in so I'm starting to get around with only very mild discomfort unless I do the wrong movement, a full nights sleep though would be awesome.

Agree with @VPS don't look at your Super

All things considered... feeling Ok :)

I just counted the number of bottles of red I have in the cellar. At 1 per night have enough for 18 months. But the liver might get me first. ;)

I'm still here in Thailand working getting ready for Friday's flight via SIN. Ready for the two week lock-down but actually looking forward to it just really want to get home. This is not really the place i want to come down with as i'm sure it will be a local hospital . We heard this morning that the local mayor has contracted it so that has rocked the estate here as the big Toyota No3 plant is located around the corner. Hit a few of the locals here as they realise its not far away.

It's a bit depressing here now, as reading a lot of the news from home gets you down. Been sort of in a lock-down of my own and each day it seems to get eerier in more ways than one. Nobody is talking on the transport or around the estate, heads down and just do what you have to do. Roads are not busy and much fewer people on the streets.

Just hope i don't pick it up on the way back to spoil everything.
