Got a targeted survey worth 1500 points if you qualify and complete it.

It's about a Hilton Visa card. I thought they always have a co-branded card and the Premium Club (or something that many AFFers use)?

Anyway, these are the benefits that are floated in the survey.

The cost suggested is $249pa. No mention of any points cap.

I should add that, in the survey, some other benefits were also mentioned. I was asked to rank them. They include (but not exclusive):

- 20% off room rates (Australasia or worldwide)
- 20% off other charges (Australasia or worldwide)

Hi,

Does this mean they are bringing out a Hilton VISA card to australia?

Similar to the one in the US called AMEX Hilton Surpass?

Thanks,
K.

The cost suggested is based on what you out in as reasonable, mine was not $249.

Well it means they are considering it and testing out the waters rather than they definitely are bringing one in, will try and answer the questions correctly!

I just did the survey...can you imagine paying your taxes eg $40k, you are then Hilton Diamond! I will get this card in a flash esp if the benefits are as highlighted in post#1. If there is a 20% discount on acommodation / food etc, that will be a huge bonus!

I would be in on those sort of conditions

BUT lets see what the reality f it is if it ever appears!!

They do have a co-branded card - Hilron Macquarie card. It was always disappointing, to me, that the card did not really have any integration with the HHonors program, and simply provided a discount at Hiltons. Looking at the suggested benefits, I would consider swapping over, especially if the 20% discount remained.

That sounds pretty good to me, I didn't get an email but Shrek did and I'm going to fill it in on his behalf :D

$249, although I for some reason I recall it as $295, was certainly not reasonable for me either! To put things into perspective I see more value in the Woolworth's EDR credit card!

...now that said the $40k spend for HH Diamond is probably not that bad if you aren't able to keep it, or earn it, through stays/nights/points.

I am happy with complimentary HH Gold :) As I am more than happy with free breakfast!

I was/am concerned $40k/annum is too cheap for diamond and complementary gold is too generous and we'll see a downgrade of HH status benefits to accommodate all the new status elites. It may sound silly, but I currently have to spend over $10k with Hilton alone to maintain diamond, so a $3333/month spend on anything on a credit card to achieve the same thing is very low. We'd romp that in without spending a cent in a Hilton hotel, so if we could manage that, so could thousands of others who currently don't have HH status. It's been suggested that the possibilty is there that all the VA status matches (me included) may be part the reason behind SYD and BNE Hiltons denying golds some expected upgrades. I know that's purely speculation, but it doesn't require a crystal ball to see lounges becoming very crowded places if tens of thousands of new Aussie diamond members suddenly materialise!

I think the suggested annual fee on my survey was $295, but I couldn't be certain. I suggested the annual fee should be between $500 and $600 as A) the benefits would basically cover that only if you use mid to high range hotels anyway; and B) it'll should scare away the multitudes.

I imagine as legit Diamonds, we'll see good upgrades and good treatment at our regular hotels, but when we go somewhere new, we'll just be one of a million nobody diamonds who get a guestroom plus upgrade.

I'm not that excited by the earn, though the bennies that appear to be proposed seem quite good. 4HH / $ spent at hilton is what... about 2c /$ Most 1 point / $ cards (or higher) would reap at least that in value, more probably 3c/$ and upwards.

If owning the card meant getting 20% off best price room rate (ie; HPC) and another 20% off food and drink and if _that_ discount required use of the card then I'd happily pay my hilton bill with it ... otherwise I'd use an Amex or EDRCC.

I don't think I will be able to get diamond on that spend anyways. I'm not a high enough spender. Well I could probably spend that amount if I paid everything via the VISA Hilton card. But I would like to accrue my airline miles via ascent premium. So would like to split between amex and visa.

I too am concerned it will devalue those with status. Lounges full of people and possibly less upgrades for those with genuine spend at Hilton Hotels? Would have to wait and see. That said 1 hilton point per dollar is a bit poor on spend. $50000 becomes 50000HH points or potentially only 1 night at a high category hotel. Not a great way to earn points compared to other cards. Bonus platinum status aside after 40000 spend, this status may also be devalued. I think id rather have 60000 FF points at 1.5 per dollar on other cards.

I am filling out the survey now :) The email was in my junk mail!

I rung HH SYD a month or so back about this to enquire
a) where my bonus points were; and
b) whether a decision was pending on an implementation.

The response was somewhat disappointing. The lady knew nothing about it and after I forwarded the email to her, she checked and replied to me that I must have been mistakenly included in a US survey as there was no plans for such a card in Australia :(. She apologised and promptly credited my HHonors account with the missing 1500 HH points.

I'm sure that survey specifically mentioned Australia (or perhaps Australasia) and why would they survey the US members when they already have the card available? Has everyone recieved the bonus points and has anyone heard anything further?

Come to think about it, I never received the bonus 1500 points either....now to see if I can find that email and chase Hhonors regarding the missing pts.....I would be disappointed if we never saw the card in Australia as I would sign up for it in a flash!

I say I would sign up, but the reality is that it would likely be gold only, for a some ridiculous spend with a BOGOF that is impossible to use and not eligible for points or status benefits.

The US seem to get the best deals on easy status/points/benefits and the rest of the world has to actually qualify!
