Does anyone / has anyone stayed in any apartments around Kent Road in Mascot that can comment on whether the plane noise is a problem for them?

I'm looking at a rental apartment situated on the corner of 39 Kent Road and Coward Street (see map below) and one of the bedrooms has windows which has a view of the top of the runway but I'm wondering whether the aircraft noise might be unbearable so was keen to hear if anyone has stayed around that area and could comment on whether it was a big problem for them.

Well you will have planes flying right over the apartment when runway 16L is in use. So it will be noisy, but just how much depends if the place has soundproofing etc. Keep in mind that there is a curfew between 11pm and 6am.

Personally I would put up with the noise in exchange for the runway views. ;)

I used to work (some years ago) in the building on the corner of Kent and Coward Sts, and from what I recall the trucks made more noise than the planes. I really do not recall hearing the planes from inside and it was not double glazed. The building you are looking at was not there when I worked in Mascot.

I actually saw three apartments in that building (39 Kent Road) - on the 3rd flr, 8th flr and 13th flr. You're right about the truck noise - which was bad from the 3rd floor. Plane noise was quite noticeable from the apartment on the 13th floor. The one on the 8th (with the view of the tip of runway) seems to be the best compromise - but the viewing was short so it wasn't possible to stand there long enough to properly test the noise levels.
