Im looking at using my points for a business reward redemption for this route before the new charges take effect next year.
From what i can see the only available options at this stage are the DL40 direct flight or the VA flights which seem to be via BNE. None of the direct VA business reward seats seem to ever be available!
From what ive read virgins "the business" product and service wins hands down over deltas "delta one" product and service in all departments.
However i still find myself leaning towards delta for 3 main reasons:
1. Its a direct flight (saves at least 3-4 hours)
2. I understand it uses terminal 2 at LAX instead of Tom Bradley which virgin uses (potentially saving 1-2 hours and the associated frustration that is experience in the customs chaos at Tom Bradley)
3. I could be wrong about this but as i understand it there is no international lounge for velocity frequent flyers to use at BNE. Knowing that with the DL40 flight at least there is the skyteam lounge in sydney where i can have a couple of scotches before my flight is not insignificant haha
Not sure if my understanding is correct so happy to be corrected on any points if im wrong!
Also, 1 question i have is whether the new charges on virgins reward seats will apply to partners like delta? Or will they only apply to VA flights?
**Edit**
Ok so it looks like at BNE there is the singapore lounge to use. Not sure why i didnt think of that one lol
virgins lounge arrangements are so bloody confusing!
