I did do a search but couldn't see the answer for this.

I'm flying VS (Velocity Platinum) in Y+ SYD-LHR in a few weeks, and can't seem to find any lounge access rules for Plats. The Velocity page states flying VS I have Clubhouse Access (so HKG and LHR are set) but nothing about SYD. Just states that the NZ lounge is for when you're flying DJ or NZ trans-tasman.

Has anyone had any experience in this? Curious to know how i'll go.

Tricky one there, VFF site states Plat includes
Access to over 150 lounges globally

Then if you click the link it states:

Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic Clubhouse owned and operated lounges^You and a guest on presentation of membership card and boarding pass for same day travel with Virgin AtlanticView Locations

and also:

^Velocity Members are not eligible for access to Virgin Atlantic partnered lounges, please see Virgin Atlantic for locations and conditions of entry.

As SYD is a "Shared Lounge" with NZ I think you may be out of luck - here's hoping not though!

No lounge access out of Syd when flying VS. If the had a clubhouse in Syd then yes you would. As Virgin's reciprocal lounge access is negotiated with each airline individually of course NZ will not allow you to use their facilities when they are getting none of the benefit of your business. Virgin's alliances aren't like * or OW where you basically get lounge access to any of the partner airlines lounges regardless of who's ticket you are holding. This is why people are holding their breath for VA to join *.

There is no access for partnered lounges which is the case with SYD AFAIK.

That's what I feared. That's a bit cough!

Thanks yohy?! I did find that, and that's what made me fear that I wouldn't be having access. I guess i'll drag a friend to the airport for lunch and go through security as late as possible (fortunately I do have plenty of spare express cards for SYD!).

I do realise that. Of course it never hurts to ask and hope (a little) :) Alas I can't see VS joining any alliance anytime soon, and IMHO it's a given that DJ/VA will join sooner than later.

I can pay $50 to access the NZ lounge otherwise I believe (I did this in MEL when flying QR last year). Work expense:)

Give it a try anyway when you go - wave your boarding pass under the scanner and see if it goes green :)

Hopefully they are still using the express cards when you go through.

It was imminent a few months ago, but given the fact Government agencies are involved, that can be decoded to "from now until sometime in the next 5 years"!

Or 'from now until after next election depending on if I have a job after the public-service-axe falls!'

Im in the same boat, Va gold flying PE on VS- no access- Can we buy our way in for $50, if so is it on the door or do you have to prepay?

Pretty sure you can pay $38 at the Koru Lounge in SYD for entry. Subject to availability. You would need to call ANZ though to confirm.

Dont see too many posts where the accent comes through :D:D, or maybe it was just the mention of the kiwi lounge.

With all those "e"s, wouldn't that more likely be an ozzy accent? Us kiwis only use one vowel, that's "u", so maybe dumustuc?

QF have a couple of good lounges:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:
