Hi Everyone,

Thanks again to this site I was able to stumble across the great Swiss RTW fare I did up an itinerary BNE-SYD-JFK-ZRH-HKG-SYD-BNE had this priced by a TA at flight centre had the price come back at a very reasonable price and the tickets put on hold whilst i played around with dates and getting leave approved ect.. during this process I the current flight to JKF was on QF107 i wanted to try and see if i could get on the A380 flight to LAX or DFW as i thought id try my luck for the first time at a points upgrade to first, anyway long story short as a result of this my TA came back to me and advised the they couldn't get me the flight to US on qantas any more with the Swiss deal as qantas wasn't compatible with this ticket?? (i thought this was one of the benefits) and the only option is to use United (has anyone got any advice on united i would prefer to credit to QF to try and maintain gold) or look at a Fin RTW which is going to be more $$$

Is anyone aware of any reason why I cant use the QF flight to the US, any info on what the united service in J is like (ill have to do some research on trip reports) or if would it be worthwhile trying another travel agency (any suggestions or any TA's on here that want to PM me are welcome to it will be for 2 pax)

Hopefully someone on here can help out as usual.

Thanks in advance :0)

Is that a LX fare or a *A RTW?

Hi TomVexille, Im not really sure I think Swiss has its own RTW fare that allows access to non *A airlines (i.e qantas) i just spoke to the TA about the Swiss RTW fare and they seemed to know all about it, and it was all priced up including taxes with the QF flights but now something has gone wrong and they are saying no more QF flights to US the rertun fligh HKG-SYD still seems to be ok on QF though....

The relevant fare bucket for that day on QF may now be full?
Can you try a different day.

Hard to give you an answer without knowing the exact fare and fare rules.

That's right - it isn't a *A RTW fare, but an LX one. So they can combine with whoever they negotiated with. And as you know, much better priced too than the *A!

LX have indeed recently changed the rules of that fare and you can no longer use QF trans-pacific. To/from Asia hasn't changed, which is why QF is still okay on that leg.

The Finnair fare is more expensive, yes. But you can do more with it and it might get you to Platinum with all the J flying...?

the bestflights website used to be the one I'd go and look at now and then to get a good summary of all these different RTW fares but that got bought out didn't it, is there another site that lists some of these different options???

if I had a ticket confirmed but not yet paid would they still have to honour it or is it only for paid bookings?

There are similar products with LH and AY. I used LH J RTW back in May with QF SYD-LAX and SIN-SYD. After the initial booking/quote the corp TA came back and said there was a $600 surcharge to use QF! So there might be something going on. I believe that the *A fares do not include trans-US flights. However, the AY fare does but you are limited to JFK to/from Helsinki (and maybe seasonal MIA flights). If using LH, avoid the A380. The J seats are a disgrace. Go for a 747-8 or refurb A340.

The ticket would have had to of been issued for it to be possible, which generally means paid (unless you have a credit arrangement with the TA). Just holding the seats in the right class doesn't help unfortunately. Hope the Finnair options work out for you - it is a great fare for Oneworld SCs.

Working on a finair option and going in the reverse direction this time to maximise SCs before my renewal year. lets hope it comes back not to much more :) thanks to everyone that has helped. will keep you posted
