Hi y'all
Given the 5 day weekend, I am thinking of doing a status run or a points run thingy. Ideally I want to get the best bang for my buck, a few days to relax before heading home and also get some diving in if I can.
Open to any and all suggestions (just be aware you can't dive and jump on a plane - must wait 24 hours).
Cheers
Taez
PS. To those I met at the Brisbane catch up the other week - PANDAS ROCKED!
I would post a link to some of the unedited pics but I am too new still. If you want to see - check out twitpic dot com slash photos slash taezar

I'm over in the U.S for the long weekend (taking three days off work to make it a VERY long weekend).

And yes, some Status Credits will be earnt!

But it's a little too far for most people to fly to for 5 days total leave.

Not sure what you've dived locally, but have you thought about Vanuatu?

BTW - Good to know the Pandas were awake and receptive to people visiting!!

Diving's not my bag, but the Poor Knights Islands off NZ's North Island seem to have a decent reputaution. The LAN SYD-AKL J flights may still be good for SC earn (but again, I've not taken this flight, and unsure if still good value - but worth checking)

Hey cool photos mate.

Where do you want to go, how much $ and how many points do you need?

Sorry I should have been more precise:
$1000 - $1500 or so.
I don't "need" to make a grade, but I heard people talking about specific runs that people do to clock up the points and figured I may as well give one a go as I don't have anything planned for Easter.
Diving wise, I am pretty relaxed about it - just not wrecks or caves.
I did look at Nadi but there is a "run" to Nadi I believe. I don't really know how they work, how to find them etc.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like we need a spontaneous gathering this weekend with a laptop and some interweb to book something for you.

My place for WiFi then stroll down to the CBD for lunch/dinner?

I'm going to the Craft Expo at the convention centre today. Lunch?

I am back from the Coast around 12.30pmish. That work for you? Or post Expo?

PS.We could go to DM's but if anyone is bored, around, feeling social - feel free to self invite.

I pm'd you my mobile number. Lunch after the craft expo sounds like a plan. Probably easiest if you text me when you're back and we can co-ordinate a spontaneous lunch to plan your Easter trip. I'll be catching public transport today.

This thread has turned into a spontaneous gathering of 2. Taezar and myself had lunch and are now at her place trying to plan her Easter Escape.

Anyone have some ideas? Or wanting to meet with us in Brisbane this afternoon?

Flight out of Brisbane to be Thursday night 21/4 or early Friday 22/4 returning Tuesday 26/4. Ideal budget up to $2000, preferably around $1500 for flights.

Asia, Oz or South Pacific.

Yes KarenS is here, drinking my beer and hijacking my thread.
However, we aren't having much luck yet - so need someone with an idea and skill to assist.

The basic issue with doing this cheaply (read: adding in extra legs for cheap prices) is that Easter is not a cheap time to travel.

It's going to take some searching.

I think we have something. Just have to wait till Monday to confirm prices as we are cutting one connection rather tightly and the online system won't play nice.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm home! Didn't drink all of Taezar's beer. She has a great plan which I am thinking of gate crashing.

And I would like to thank Mr karens for picking me up this afternoon.

I am playing on getting to Shanghai again now...
Just call me Miss Swings and Roundabouts!

I haven't been to Shanghai but have been to China a few times. Love the place. There is a gorgeous little town outside of Shanghai I have always wanted to see - is a canal town.
Then there is the opy to jump a flight to Xi'an if there is anything avail and the weather sucks.
