the fake credit score is meaningless concern. Lenders exercise caution when there is a high number of credit enquiries in a short period of time, as that can indication fraud, or someone like a miner going on a bender with a hooker called Molly Mounds, just before he is going to die.

How many is too many, well that depends, on exactly when, what type, amounts, who with, who they are and other aspects on the application.
However just two in any period of time, is really no concern at all and quite typical.

Got rejected by Westpac for the $120k qantas combo deal back in aug last year. I was told too many credit enquires ok my credit file was the reason. Haven’t applied any other cards since. Not sure if I should give it a go now or wait... Credit Simple shows 580 and Credit Savvy 730... credit simple is prob more accurate as it uses equifax

Where do you find this credit score? I have gotten credit reports from Eqifax/Veda but it never seems to have any score on it, just records of all my credit applications etc??

Still waiting from 23 January, keep getting the generic message of "slightly behind in our processing" when I text for my application status... not sure if it will speed things up if I call them?

What? 2 weeks and you still don't know if your application has been approved? I would definitely be calling.

Regarding the transactions not counted in the minimum spend to get the bonus points, do “government fees” only mean ATO payments and fines etc? My main question is would car registration and council rates count towards minimum spend

I have paid council rates and water (seperately) and STG credited the reward points for it, and that means it counts for qualifying spend.

I have a theory that “government fees” is a legacy clause that is related to the now obselete bank accounts debits and credit taxes, and the banks havent done very well to clarify that in todays context. I think its a very safe bet that if you pay the ATO, you wont get the points (otherwise everyone would be raving about it) but anything else is fine. Unlike some other banks, STG hasnt specifically excluded utilities, insurance, etc.

I just take the position that every bank is different, and every bank can change on a whim, so every time I pay such bills, I always check later if I got the points, and I make a note for my reference. Because I have about 1000 credit cards, and a bad memory, that works for me. So far I havent ever ripped myself off by using the wrong card.

I'm interstate for work and my husband checked the mail this afternoon and lo and behold it's sitting there. I didn't get any other notification though...? Oh well, time to reach this minimum spend!

Submitted my application 25 January with the required documentation.
Nothing yet also, reply from SMS status of application "Hi, we're still slightly behind in our processing.
We'll get back to you if we need anything." Drawn out process.

Does anyone know the annual income requirement for this card?

I’m not able to get the bonus on this till after 24 April. But, even then it would be cutting it too fine as 9 days later I’m off for 5 weeks. It would be great if they fast tracked approval and delivery. ;)

Thanks so much for this! I thought it was likely to count, am hoping to make the spend and get these points ASAP!

I had this card in 2017 and remember they credited the bonus points very quickly. My girlfriend applied for this in mid January (unfortunately with the reduced $179 annual fee), and they approved in 2 days but sent her the green card saying they're out of stock of the black cards. Secondly, the old man applied for this on the Australia Day weekend and received confirmation a week later. When he sent the SMS to check on the progress of the application, he was told they were behind. Must say, I found St George easy to deal with in 2017. Same can't be said for Citibank!

Thank you, Dr Ralph. Where and how did you find this? How could I possibly know about this if not for you posting this in AFF?
I read vivaciously!

But to save you the effort, this is what AFF is for :)

(Vivacious - yes I know! But if you have been watching MAFS you'd know that's how the 29 year old virgin Matt described his reading style!)

Just an update on my application - conditionally approved on 20th Jan. So called them today to find out what is going on with this card after being able to create an internet banking login and seeing my $15K conditionally approved application still hung up somewhere in the system. Previous "status" texts were still returning the "We are still slightly behind in our processing, we will get back to you if we need anything.." message. No physical card received yet at all.

So I did the phone call to the St George call centre today and they confirmed that the application returns an error and has already been referred to the St George IT people from the Verification Team. So sounds like these guys are having some IT issues with applications not being able to progress.

The only reason I care about this is that I might find that St George have already started the clock ticking on the 3 month spend window for the bonus points so am screen shotting everything for the inevitable argument over attaining the min spend within their window. Does anyone else have experience if the 3 month spend clock actually starts upon approval or on activation of the card?

Anyway - once I got back in online I tried to verify the status of the application and this is what I got. Helpful huh?

Approval date in my experience.

If you need more time I'd be contacting them immediately and getting them to put in writing an extension was needed because of their delays.
