Hi All,

I will be moving to London next week, after which I'll be 80 status credits short of SG. Does anyone have any suggestions for inexpensive status runs ex London for making up the required number of SC's by 30th November? I'd be looking at making weekend / 3-day trips.

London -> Anywhere in business class return would get you 40SCs each way for 80 total. I suppose just look up what specials BA might have to Paris, Brussels, Dublin, Amsterdam etc.

You're in luck! Go to ba.com and click on the Business Class sale link.

You should be able find any number of returns in Club Europe which will get you 40 or 60 SCs each way for less than £200 (£185 to Alicante and Faro, I think).

LGW departures are cheaper than LHR and LGW-BCN can often be found for £210.

In fact I'm doing that tomorrow and will make SG for the first time! Self-funded too.

Cheers.

Hi Dubno,

So can you let us know how this worked for you? I've got quite a few of these trips planned in the future (and a couple of them booked already). They're showing up in my Qantas profile as R(Economy) - and I don't want to start the "what booking class is this" thread off - but did you get business class SCs for them?

regards,

James.

P.S If the OP is looking for status runs and can find an excuse to go to Catania (CTA) it's 80SCs one way and relatively cheap.

G'day Statesman,

I'd seen that (and that R is 1st for Qantas) which is why I couldn't work out why they'd be calling it economy. I'll put it down to some web wierdness and just assume I'll get the right SCs.

Hi Obrienja,

My CE flights appeared as I class on QF and BA, and yes they did post J class status credits. I don't think you'll have a problem. My Gold status was recognised on qf.com 2 days after the qualifying flight and I received my Gold card yesterday, just 2 weeks later.

I've now turned into a complete DYKWIA and have tried to use the card to get into Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Concorde and Bejam in the last 24 hours. No luck though....:D
