Well my wife and I are starting our trip to Japan. Have checked in at Hobart and were give boarding passes HOB-MEL with gold status, but the next two flights are on Singapore metal, MEL-Singapore Singapore-Osaka show no status. Will this pose a problem with access to silverkris access in MEL, or the Gold Lounge access in Singapore? Will have 3-4 hours in each location this trip. Thanks

Are you carrying your VA Gold card with you?
If yes, then a flash of the card should allow entry.

If no, I'd probably try and get SQ (either the lounge or the premium check in counter) to re-print your BPs on SQ stock which should then pick up the status. I'm assuming they've all been issued under a single PNR/VA issued ticket, which I've personally never done, but I don't see why this wouldn't let SQ see your status propagate through.

My VA status on an SQ issued / ticketed itinerary came through as "PTNR PRIORITY" on my boarding pass; though I was flying F/J so already had access.

Hope this helps... Have a great trip and enjoy the cherry blossoms!!

Thanks for quick reply, yes have my gold velocity card with me. Travelling Y and all 3 legs booked though virgin website. Think I will talk to a Singapore staff member at the lounge about it. Hoping for as little stress as possible. Lol

Back before there was status printed on the boarding passes I had zero issues getting all the benefits of VA Gold by carrying the card so I think you'll be alright. I'd still ask for a reprint of the onward BPs once you get to the SKL in MEL anyway, personally I like my boarding pass stock to line up with operating carrier, but I'm a bit odd so don't mind me ;)

Definitely get the BPs re-printed by SQ - it will save hassles which you don't need.

This actually isn't that uncommon if you are flying 'partner' airlines - eg on Alaska on a QF ticket. For that matter, even on two OneWorld airlines - my LAN BPs printed by QF didn't have 'Preferente' on them. Lounge access wasn't an issue - but when boarding a LAN plane, you definitely want to be in the 'Preferente' lane!

I travelled with my boss last year VA/SQ with the same BP issue as you. He just showed his VA card in the SQ lounge no problems with access. Enjoy the trip.

The last two trips I've flown on SQ (both in 2016) no boarding passes have been printed either in Perth, Shanghai or Tokyo with VA status - I'd just assumed they weren't doing it.

Previously I'd always had something like PTNR GOLD or PTNR PRIORITY printed for SG or WP, including out of the same airports.

As others note, carry the card and you'll have no issue with lounge access and priority boarding...

I have found that if booked on the VA codeshare flights, no VA status etc will appear on the SQ BP's no matter what they do. Just another snag with the VA codeshares to add to the list.

If flights are booked direct with SQ, the PTNR GOLD (SG) or PTNR PRIORITY (WP) will appear on the SQ BP's.

From experience, just flash the VA bling and you 'should' have no problems.

My last two trips without were both SQ flights, one booked on SQ website, one through corporate traveller, with VA number added at time of bookings - so it's definitely happening to SQ bookings too in recent months.

Mrs L_P and I both got an op-up to J on an outgoing PER-SIN leg while waiting in lounge, so the status was definitely still in system. Or so I like to think...

Saw a Singapore staffer at the customer service station, he reprinted BPs no question. Now in the lounge, no problems. Lovely and quiet, nice sushi and salad with Aussie bubbles. Thanks for all the advice. Bring on Japan.

I'm jealous.

Have a great trip!

Nice! How full were the flights (if you know) and what fare class were you in? I have been booking Flexi Savers but I maybe need to be in Flexi to get a look in...

I would assume that VA WP would rank below all SQ PPS and KF Gold and maybe even KF Silver. Where VA WP is versus *A Gold is unclear.

Honestly don't know how full it was, just assumed economy was overbooked. I've flown a few times per year in Y on SQ while SG and WP with VA and its never happened before. From what I'd read previously chances of ever being upgraded on SQ were minimal. We were booked on Flexi Savers.

The better half has zero status with VA as well, which made it even more surprising. She status pools everything to me. Between us we'd probably had 4 trips on SQ in previous 5 months, so maybe there is something in that. And of course the usual pleasantries and friendliness to the check in and lounge staff without asking outright to be upgraded :)

But probably just a very full flight and right place/time for me...

Wow an opup with VA status. I know PPS members that havent had an opup ever when flying Y. As a VA WP I've taken 18 flights on SQ in the last 9 months (10 in Y) and despite not a single Y seat being free have never gotten opup. On one of the J flights I asked in lounge to upgrade using points to F but was denied and F was completely vacant.

All my boarding passes have had partner priority printed on them, even if VA issued in Australia. A couple of times I've been asked for my card at checkin and in lounge. One time I was told I don't get express pass, priority baggage because my status was only silver, depsite the card saying platinum. After about 10 minutes of discussion between checkin agent and supervisor they finally agreed it was Platinum

I didn't realise VA flew to New Mexico ;)

(HOB is Lea County Regional Airport in New Mexico)

I experienced boarding pass printing issue in BKK on Friday. Check in staff couldn't resolve issue despite numerous attempts , but said just show Velocity card at lounge. Got in into SQ lounge with no issues. Points credited to my account today.

We checked in via the premium checkin counter on Osaka with no problems. The Singapore system automatically put PTNR priority gold for all boarding passes. Priority checkin in Melbourne after getting our bags was also smooth with a lovely chat about Japan at checkin. Melbourne Lounge has been nice after no lounge available in Osaka. And a multi train transfer for our Singapore stopover leaving no real time for the gold lounge. Nice to be on our way home for the final leg. Thanks heaps for the advice.
