We have just taken advantage (big time) of the double status credit deal.
One of the itineraries we have booked is ADL-MEL-LAX-LAS-JFK-CDG-LHR-SIN-MEL-ADL.
All the flights are upgradable economy (I love flying, but I want to spend the money on other things on this trip).
My wife is Silver, and I am gold, and we both have 200,000+ points for the upgrades.
My question is, should I do the upgrades as a Gold member - does it "do more" than if we do it as my wifes Silver status.
If it is preferential to do it as Gold, I'll transfer points from my wifes account.

Is your booking viewable via your qantas frequent flyer account?

Assuming yes - you should request upgrade from within your frequent flyer account.

Usually either both will get upgrade or none will. Wife should get some Gold 'tag along"

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

From within your frequent flyer account. Wife should then get Gold tag along benefits like - checkin with you, upgrade with you, seating choices.

Was your RTW booking done as a One world Round the World Explorer fare?

Upgrades using qantas points is only possible on flights operated by Qantas - i.e kangaroo on the tail airplanes even if the flight number has a QF in front of it
So no points upgrade on LAX-LAS-JFK-CDG-LHR.

Im unsure of LHR-SIN. Is this operated by QF or BA?
Assuming this is QF, then points upgrade possible on ADL-MEL, MEL-LAX, LHR-SIN, SIN-MEL

The other operating airlines may give you an upgrade on the basis of your one world sapphire status but expect nothing there.

BTW - assuming you have economy and not flexible economy tickets:
The cost to upgrade 2 people
MEL-LAX economy to premium is: 113,000 points
MEL-LAX economy to business is 180,000
LHR-SIN-SYD economy to premium is 150000
LHR-SIN-SYD economy to business is 240000

You will be higher in the ‘pecking order’ as SG so I would request the upgrades from your account and transfer your wife’s points to your account. You can always transfer them back if you miss out on an upgrade.

And obviously the LAX-LAS-JFK sectors on AA will not be upgradeable.

Well, it's been a good morning!
After adding up points, and transfering points from my wife to my account, we now have Business Class upgrades on all eligible QF sectors on the trip.
My problem was working out if the upgrade points shown were for one of us, or both.
I was working on the numbers Quickstatus posted, and it meant we had the points for Y+ upgrades, but not J.
When I had done the upgrades, one of the sectors came through almost straight away, and the points shown were for BOTH of us, not each.
I've now redone the whole trip with J upgrades (if we get them) and still have points left over.
In other words, the points shown to upgrade are for BOTH of us.
Hopefully all the upgrades will fall into place.

Well done . That’s a great haul especially for Gold!!! And really good way to use points

Yes upgrade is always for all passengers in the booking and points cost is for both

Better get on to choosing seats!!!
