Just a quick question which should be easy to answer:

Friend has her SC expiring on Oct 31st, in which I'm trying to plan a return interstate flight for the two of us between Nov 1st - 3rd. If I book the flights before the deadline (fare sales end Sept 30th & Oct 31st SC), what will inface happen with the SC earnt?

1) The SC are included in the "yearly total" which have expired? (ie: Booked in Sept, before downgrade)
2) SC will only count for next years trips (Nov 1st onwards)?

I expect I already know the answer, BUT..... am hoping!

She only needs 60 SC to get to silver, we have double SC offers.....

If it's a no, then all is good, which would mean we would hopefully hit Gold with all the trips planned for 2014 (overseas holiday).

The SC's are earnt when you fly.
The double SC's also have to be booked within the specified window to be earnt .

Is this with QF? If so then the SCs will count towards the new year as they are given for the actual date of the flight and not for when the flight was booked.

Have you considered doing a quick SC run MEL-BNE-MEL or something like that on a red-e? If you have a lot of travel on QF or AA in the next membership year the extra 50% in points earned because of PS might be able to pay back the cost of the run. And the priority check-in (and security on AA in LOTFAP) will make it a very nice touch to pre-departure comfort.

Basically if your friends status credits are reset to zero on 01 Nov 2013, she must complete the flights that will earn her th 60SC up to and including 31 October 2013. It doesn't matter if the SC don't post until the the first couple of days in November as what counts is the flights must be flown by 31 October.

Check out the "your summary" page once signed into the frequent flyer profile & it should say something like "additional status credits required by 31 October 2013 to achieve".....
