Greetings

Has anyone had much luck with the multi city booking tool on the SQ website?

I am looking for a straight SYD-TYO booking with a stop back from TYO in SIN for a few days (where I plan to go off on a separate flight to BKK before returning for a few days in SIN).

A simple SYD-TYO prices nicely. When I add the stop though it balloons out by about $900 more. It could be my dates. I had usually thought SQ encouraged stops in SIN.

I did look at trying to price a Star Alliance flight (through the SA website) from SYD-TYO-BKK-SIN-SYD but the pricing which came in was about $2000 more.

I might have to toddle off to a TA and ask for some options.

The SYD-TYO option was very attractive price wise on SQ. If I wasn’t looking to stop on the way back from TYO then I would just book it (or an alternative carrier on that route).

My routing tends to rule out the Japanese carriers (as I do not want to back track from SIN after I leave TYO). The only option might be some of the Chinese Carriers or Thai (but I do not rate Thai).

The travel will be in J.

Any tips on potential carriers or options for that type of routing? Much appreciated.

Try an online flight booking website?

What seems to be happening is that when I add the stop over my flight options out of SYD are restricted - which seems strange as I am flying straight through to TYO from SYD on the outbound (this is also replicated on webjet for example).

So out of SYD on the straight SYD-TYO-SYD booking I am presented with four options (one of which is via CBR which is the cheapest of the fares).

But if I add the stop in SIN from TYO on the way home then the CBR option out of SYD (as well as some other flights) are removed (even though, as I said, this would be unaffected by the stop).

I will keep mucking around with it...

I have found the Star Aliiance site fairly useless and expensive. I think it only works for the round the world trips.
I am currently searching for some multi city flights in March on Singapore Airlines and the same flights are much cheaper on other websites through Skyscanner. This one below Bestjet is supposedly an Aussie website and was significantly cheaper for business class fares.
