Is it just when I am looking or are standard award flights on SQ 322 non existant. It doesn't seem to matter when I look they are never offered. I am aware it is their overnight service and hence I would expect it to be their most popular but not even 1 award seat ( except waitlisting).
Has anyone ever managed an award seat on this flight (SIN to LHR).
Regards Danger UXB

Not many J awards available on the kangaroo route unfortunately, being so popular, especially if you have no status.

Have you tried waitlisting? Sometimes the award seats are only released upon waitlisting.

Alternatively try MAN or CDG instead?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Kangaroo route seats are available, especially on a standard award!

As for SQ322, did you try to do waitlist? Sometimes they clear straight away.

Thanks for the replies.
Here is my dilema.
I have 3 seats MEL to LHR thru HKG on 24-3-10 all redemption booked thru QF. The leg HKG to LHR is with BA. I have been reading about more strike action, the cabin crew are voting to strike, the vote ends on 22-2-10 with the first possible date for strike being 1-3-10. The union have promised "no strike action over easter" which leaves me smack bang in the middle.
So I'm just doing my research. My chances of moving the BA flight to a QF flight with QFF are non existant. Krisflyer have 3 seats in J the same day( thank god these are my last QF points) but not on SQ322. If a strike is called on 22-2-10 then I will need to move fast and therefore waitlisting for 3 days to receive a "no "answer is not an option, but if the waitlist usually results in a yes then SQ 322 would definitely be the choice flight (flying with Mini Danger age 3 1/2 it's a jet lag thing).
Hence my question, has anyone actually redeemed successfully on SQ322

I would imagine that once a strike is called, the other airlines are likely to close off any availability anyway..... after all, they probably would like to make extra profit from the situation.

Thanks I thought so.
Just a quick follow up question. Will the online booking engine allow me to book a redemption flight without the points in my account and then give me time to transfer them to my account from my credit card or do I have to make this sort of booking thru the call center? It just crossed my mind to book the flight on the 21-2-10 just incase, then if I don't need it because there is no strike I can cancel it. This way if I cancel my points don't end up with an 18 month expiry and I can still use them whenever I want to
Cheers for all the advice

It seems the main priority is to avoid any possibility of being derailed by the strike, and the next priority is to cater to Mini DangerUXB's needs.

I humbly suggest the following:

As J is available on other flights on the same day, redeem into one of those first. Then, on sq.com waitlist for the change to SQ322. If nothing eventuates, call the KF Centre direct in Singapore, and explain your requirements, who may then release the seats you want. They will be more amenable to getting you on SQ322 if you already have a confirmed booking. (IIRC there is no huge fee attached to changing a redemption booking.) If you have any status at all with SQ, your chances are greatly increased.

This way you definitely will avoid any strike consequences, and if you are fortunate, you'll get SQ322.

Hope this helps.

No, it won't allow this.
I'm not even sure if the call center will do this.
Booking for 21/2/10 first and then cancelling if not needed is certainly a good option. The fees to cancel are minimal in the scheme of things. (around US$12 per pax or something like that).

I thought I read somewhere on this forum that they do allow this, but obviously not

I guess if you transfer the points, and then cancel your booking, then you do have to use them again within the three year expiry, not 18 mths.

They will not book without points in your account.

3 years I was under the impression it was 18mths. Now that changes the playing field I would definitely be using them before 3 yrs but 18 mths was a bit of a push.
Thanks for the info

A couple of relevant terms and conditions which can be found here https://www.singaporeair.com/saa/Ut.../krisflyer/customerservice/terms.jsp#Header4:

11. KrisFlyer accounts which have activity are valid for 36 months from the end of the month in which the last activity occurred, after which the membership accounts will expire. KrisFlyer accounts which do not have any activity for a period of 18 months since enrolment will expire after that period of 18 months.

17. A member’s KrisFlyer miles will expire after three years at the end of the equivalent month in which they were earned. For example, miles credited to a member’s KrisFlyer account in July 2006 will expire on 31 July 2009.

Hope that helps.

As stated you need the correct number of points in your account to book(note that you can buy some of short but it is not cheap).

I have tested this as sometimes I have been checking availability on various routes for future reference and on some occasions in doing this my points balance was insufficient and on these occasions the booking would not go through.

An insufficient points message would come up.

Do I assume that "activity" is flight, hire car, credit card transfer etc ie some kind of point deposit or send from one account?
Thanks againg for all the info. I am feeling much better about BA cabin crew going on strike now

I tried last November to book a standard J award seat on SQ322. There were 2 seats available when I wanted to book, but then I transferred points from Amex to KF, and also booked cash seats in D at the same time. When the points hit my KF account, there were no FF seats remaining in J on SQ322, and I was waitlisted.

I had my travel agent call SQ, and was told that there was a very remote chance of me getting seat from that waitlist.

We then changed the cash and award seats over to SQ318, which is whilst still an A380, is annoying, because it is a day flight :(

I believe that activity would include non-airline points. Credit card schemes are big business for the airlines and they would be happy to have you.
