Card Promotions St George Amplify Signature card with sign-up bonus points

Got the School fee letter for 2020 today - how to crack the bonus threshold in one transaction.

Looks like you can add EBP along with Canberra as not counting towards the bonus. Still pays points though :p

These type of transactions appear as Bills and Payments.

What is EBP? Does everything coded bills and payments notcount towards bonus points?

Easy Bill Pay .... think B2Bpay

If you add the B&P transactions in the total I've exceeding the bonus points spend by a couple of hundred thousand.

If you deduct these I'm sitting around $9K of the $12K.

Everything has earned points, but I'm still to see the bonus.

Thanks. If you hit the 12000 less than 90 days ago that is why you might not have seen it yet. Will ring on Monday to try and get something recoded. A golf club membership was coded as bills and payments.

Maybe that's the issue. I only started using the card in July, passed the target mid July.

JT posts indicates the 3 months lag wasn't the case for her.

I thought you just mentioned above that you have not passed the $12k target?

The 3 month/12 week lag is not always enforced, the only consistent finding is that there is no consistency with when they credit the bonus. The theory of a "sweep" has been thrown around and it would make sense for an automated system to do it, because there are reports of receiving the bonus within a few weeks to waiting the full period. Depends on when you meet the target in relation to your statement cycle.

Shame they aren't doing a lower spend requirement/lower bonus like they are doing with the Qantas card. I checked and the offer through internet banking is the same.

*Amplify Signature Bonus Points Offer: To be eligible to receive up to 200,000 bonus Amplify points over 2 years, you must apply and be approved for a new Amplify Signature Credit Card between 23rd May 2019 and 2nd October 2019. You'll receive an additional 100,000 bonus Amplify points in the second year of your credit account being open, if you spend a minimum of $12,000 on eligible purchases within the subsequent year. If you do not meet the minimum spend in one year, you forfeit the bonus points for that year only, however you are still eligible for bonus points in subsequent years if you meet the minimum spend in subsequent years during the promotional period. Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments. Existing customers who currently hold a Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met. Interest free days do not apply to credit cards with balance transfers, you'll be charged the applicable purchase rate on any spend that you make whilst you have an outstanding balance transfer.

Look like the Point Hacks promo (below) is the same as the public site.

Depends if you count transactions that come under Bills and Payments - as my posts outlines. I was answering the Q about when the $12k was passed regardless of type of transaction.

Oh, well ATO is out - you'd have to figure out how much was not to Canberra but considered a "Bpay equivalent transaction", if at all.

So, not sure I follow the implication of 'bills and payments"? I see all sorts of sundry things under B&Ps, eg the gym fee, the coffee shop etc etc.

The issue we are trying to unpack is whether transactions coded bills and payments count towards the bonus points or not. There is some evidence that they get base points only.

I've only got one rogue transaction showing as B&P, one of those kiosk retailers you see in shopping centres. All the rest are either Canberra, EBP and council fees. All items paid base points.

The only way to test for sure is to spend >$12k of "Bpay equivalent transactions" and <$12k of non-"Bpay equivalent transactions", wait the 12 months and see if the bonus is paid. Not sure anyone would be willing to do so.

I'll just push on and continue to tick up standard transactions. Unless the bonus points appear prior to me hitting $12K I'll never know. Luckily this card is a keeper so continued use is guaranteed.

Anyone had a statement issue with these guys?

The card didn't arrive after being approved, they're sending me messages to activate it. 2 weeks on I call and then they order me another card. Started spending, went past the first statement. It shows the due date in internet banking but a week later there's no statement generated. Called and they couldn't figure it out.

Also, no statement has meant no points and now I'm wondering does that mean no bonus either.

It took a while for my first statement to come through too. It has nothing to do with points on your credit card home page clearly displays your current points balance
