Stupid question of the day, for those wondering...
Is it possible to do something *similar* to Adl-Syd-New York-Washington DC - Eastcoast of Canada somewhere (Quebec, I suppose)- Las Vegas - Frankfurt (via LAX or New York, I suppose?) - Amsterdam - -Helsinki - Tokyo (via Frankfurt or London, I suppose?) - Syd - Adelaide ?
I get about 31,000 miles , well within zone 10 @ http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/usingPoints/pointsTables (nifty in case I can't do direct helsinki - tokyo on One world / have to fly via lax to get to New york / whatever)....
But, the rule I don't understand is:
"14.5.4 The following Stopover conditions apply:
(a) up to five free Stopovers are permitted;
(b) additional Stopovers are not permitted;
(c) only one Stopover is permitted in any one city in the Itinerary; and
(d) only two Transfers may be taken at any one city in the Itinerary. "
Does this mean that if I did the above flights, I could only stay for more than 24 hours in five of those cities? In effect, since you can't earn FF points... and, let's pretend I don't love flying economy class international (I don't)... those One world explorer rewards things @ http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/usingPoints/pointsTables are only useful to visit 5 cities in the one trip? So, I could have to do something like:
Adl-Syd-New York-Washington DC-Las Vegas-back to New York, but out again within 24 hours) to Frankfurt-Tokyo(perhaps via London, for less than 24 hours?)-Sydney-Adelaide? So, I'd have to, say, book into Frankfurt for a long time, then get a separate itinerary to fly (or train) around the European cities that I want to see... then come back to Frankfurt to fly out?
