I reckon the dropping of the a380 is a big loss for avid R award fans. We were planning R syd-jfk and back lax-syd. The extra stop doesn't matter when flying R! Now might have to go back to jfk to catch the inbound on R. And more competition for those seats now as well

Lucky from One Mile at a Time also posted about it. More options for the USA can't be a bad thing. Will be interested to learn more.

SQ has stated that 'some seats' will not be sold on the A350-900s plying between SIN and SFO due to possible headwinds.

Would the payload be only restricted westbound (that is, from SFO back to SIN) and how many (presumably economy) seats would not be sold on each flight?

Given that winds vary like all climatic conditions, do airlines implementing such payload restrictions (and hence forbidding sale of seats above a certain number offered) put these in place year-round, or for only a few months of the year?

I'm hoping the spare A380 will be given to a MEL route?

A380 is running 1 SIN-MEL return service for a while during July and August 2016 (in line with increase in seasonal traffic). Eventually changes back to B777.

On a similar note SQ traffic ex. SYD seems to be lower compared to MEL, and SYD has the A380 as a permanent feature. Would it be wise to swap?

That would be nice :)

- Downguaging of SIN-NRT-LAX to 77W service

Gah, I have a LAX-NRT-SIN suites award booking for early next year as a surprise for mrsdoctau :(

As I'll be flying out of Central America to Asia and don't really care about the SQ booking being from LAX, I wonder if they'd let me change to JFK-FRA-SIN (which still has an A380) for the handful of extra miles an east coast US award costs...

Just posted in the other thread but managed to score 2 x J Savers on this flight. I hadn't seen much available and everything seemed to be waitlisted around my dates but maybe just go lucky.

Going to be a long time in a plane but at least it will be comfortable!

SQ will have zero concern if indeed seats are available on your desired dates - will require cancellation of your existing booking and creation totally new booking - best you start searching doc.

There doesn't seem to be many days in the month with two J seats available, and nothing in F. I might just have to deal with normal SQ F rather than suites (terrible, isn't it?) unless some randomly pop up later.

My waitlist for 2*J savers on the direct flight from SFO- SIN connecting to PER (2nd half of January) have cleared about 2 days ago. I waitlisted them the day the flight became bookable. I have another 2 booked on standard for the same flight with saver waitlisted. Originally, we were travelling back from Los Angeles on pm flight(had 4 J savers booked) but with the schedule/aircraft changes we could not get from Sacramento to LAX in time to the catch the flight at new time of 0905. Actually managed to get 4 J savers on the 4pm flight the same day but then the temptation to catch the direct flight from SFO was too great. It is costing about 80000 Krisflyer points extra overall at this stage but I am hopeful the J Savers will clear closer to time. I did get charged any cancellation fees for the original flights even though, I had changed them once already.

- Downguaging of SIN-NRT-LAX to 77W service

Has there been any change to this?
I have SQ12 booked in R next year and after the announcement it was changed to a 77W.
When I log in to my booking now, it shows A380 as the aircraft but seatmap is still one row of 4 seats.
Interestingly the BTC I had saved previously was gone - I had to reselect the option.
Also when I search for the flight on the SQ website, Google flights and matrix.itasoftware.com, SQ 12 is not being listed for sale on my date.

If it is a 4 seat F 77W, is that going to be the new F? I looked on sqtalk but their info was out of date - still showing as an A380.

Edit: other classes on SQ12 are for sale on my date, so maybe only the F cabin is sold out.

has anyone managed to book 3 saver Js on this SIN-SFO SQ32 flight?
So no F offered and I seem to only get 2 saver Js. Is this the case?

edit: darnest thing, i tried yesterday and could only get 2 saver Js to show up, now on the same date I can see 4. nvm..
