I remember seeing somewhere where SQ will allow two FF numbers, or something like that. Anyway, I can’t find it on the forums.

I am a VA Platinum and every year I earn a lot more SC’s than necessary. I’m looking for more flexibility to use different airlines (particularly NZ trans pacific which I prefer).

Anyway, I’ve got some SQ flights in PE coming to up and, if it’s possible, I’d like to get whatever VA Platinum perks that I get while earning KrisFlyer miles.

I appreciate any help and thanks for your time.

You should call Singapore Airlines and ask for this. I had an opposite situation (wanted to use VA FF to earn points and SCs while needed to specify my Krisflyer number to redeem miles for an upgrade, as the flights were booked as SQ) and giving them a call solved this.

If SQ has dual FF capability, that sounds ideal for you.

The other option is to just book with your VA status, and then change to the SQ number at the lounge. This works fine and gives you all the VA benefits you'd normally get.

The KFG lounge in SIN T3 does not (or did not) have the facilities to do this (or so I have been advised by the lounge staff). You have to change your FF number at one of the transfer desks once you have left the lounge (on the one occasion I tried it).

SQ do not make things easy sometimes, particularly at their home port...

Well, then change it at check-in. Not much difference, I just find the lounge easier, especially if I am not checking bags.

You can still access the lounge by showing your VA card.

You can also call-in from the lounge and change it (once I called in from my seat on the plane before the door closed and was able to change my FF number!). You just won't get an updated BP to be sure about the change.

Normally SQ are very inflexible when it comes to their 'rules' when travelling in Y/PE. It is good to know they will let you into the lounge without a qualifying FF number on your BP (I assume this advice is from first hand experience). Most airlines will not allow this...

I'm not sure where you get your information that most airlines do not allow this. Yes I speak from experience, and have done this with VA, DL, SQ, EY, NZ, and CA. Mostly SQ, as I held a differen't airline's Star Gold status for a long time and that gets you into more lounges than VA status does when flying SQ (but always had my VA number on the BP).

The only time I've run into problems was at the Star Alliance Lounge at LAX, back when they worked with VA. I was flying VA with a DL number on my BP, and they wouldn't let me access the lounge with just my VA card. They had no way to verify my status electronically, I believe.

I've never been to a lounge where they could access and confirm my status and still denied access just because my number wasn't on the BP. And I have been to lounges where they didn't appear to check my status, but the card was sufficient (like the SQ partner lounge in HND).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have had problems getting into various QF, EK and AA lounges without a qualifying FF number on my BP.

Having said that, I have also had problems getting into some AA and BA lounges with my (then) QF WP number on my BP.

Once I requalify VA WP this year, I will definitely direct any further SQ earn to KF now I know that lounge access is assured just with a flash of the VA card.

Well, just FYI, I always was crediting to VA (without status yet) and using my Star Gold card to get into the lounge. I assume it would work the other way around too, but technically I haven't tried it.
